Portuguese Mod, help needed

I need help guys. I have been making a mod to play as the portuguese (replacing the aragonese) and have replaced all the shields and flags of the aragonese. But i can't find the shield that appears when we press F1 and the battle screen comes up. The same shield appears in the end of a battle. I have searched through all the .bif files and .TGA but must have overlooked something. Do any of you guys know where that darn shield is? Folder and file name?

How did you do it? Did you replace a faction or used one of the Free slots? I tried to use a free slot but i realized it would be a lot more hard work so i settled with replacing the aragonese. The portuguese shield doesn't look bad with pink backround. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

As far as i know it is not possible to use one of the free slots, at least i have not found any mod that did. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

I also replaced the Aragonese, and intend to change the their shields and flags by the portuguese ones. Still some are missing 'cause i dont know where thay "hide" http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

Anyway do u want to know something specific or just have a look at the mod (early.txt)?

It is possible to use the free slots. I know of a mod that uses 32 factions. I have no ideia how colors of the factions are changed.

I already have replaced ALL their flags and shields http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif . Some of the files are *.tga and you need a editor for that. I use photoshop pro. the rest of the files are *.bif, but at least one bif file has several frames (you can access this with the bif editor they have here in the org.

I completed my mod and i crushed the almohads, cruzaded against the HRE and the french. Funny but i had no wars with the spanish... yet (have to start working on that, after all i want realism http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ).

You can add factions but it won't work properly.
Even if it did it would be a lot of work
that may annoy you very much when you find out
you may be able to change these things in the
expantion pack for mtw.

The next version will be much more mod friendly
than at present according to CA and from what I'v
seen explained I have no reason to doubth it.

I would advise working on basic things for the moment

All the bifs can be opened by the bifreader.

I do know how to edit and change shields and flags and already have the bif reader. Other rebellions and civil wars make it hard enough

Playin the mod, i have already crushed the Castillians (they are our foe, not the Aragonese, Leonese or Galicians http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif ), so i dont have wars with them... now

The French were hard enough, had to finish them in England http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif
Meanwhile the HRE sent a Crusade to Antioch, but instead of going there the AI tried to make a detour thru my territories. No can do So, i got excom, and besides them i get the greasie italians on my back. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

The 32 faction mod i heard of was in other site and forum, i'll try to find it for you. The author of the mod made a guide to add a new faction, wich i used to create the Portuguese faction.

LK is right, new factions using free slots are hard to do.

Up till now the spaniards are helping me with the french. Little buggers even assisted me in battles http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif . So i'll let them live a little longer.
