View Full Version : Tip: GTA: Episodes from Liberty City
Well, I picked this one up at the local video game store, since it wasn't very expensive. It has been a long while since I bought a game, since RL doesn't allow me to have much gaming time lately.
Anyway, after installation, I've gone straight to "The Ballad of Gay Tony" and I must say, so far, I'm having a real blast playing through the missions.
The package also contains the Episode "The Lost and Damned", which I didn't even start, so I'm really getting value for my money here.
If you have 30 € to spend and you're a fan of everything GTA, then I can certainly recommend Episodes from Liberty City.
I got them while they were on sale on Steam a while ago, still haven't finished them, but the Ballad of Gay Tony really was fun, didn't like the rough biker gang macho stuff as much.
You might also want to try the original GTA IV, it's pretty long and should be relatively cheap by now, so even more value for the money.
For some reason I've never been able to enjoy the GTA formula despite them being meticulously crafted games. My loss I guess, everything screams win but it just doesn't hit the mark for me.

IMO the Ballad of Gay Tony, while shorter still had a lot better and a more varied story than the original GTA 4. The funny situations were funnier, the unique missions were a lot more fun, and over all, I don't know about the rest, but Luis Lopez and Gay Tony duo are a lot more interesting than Niko and Roman....
Edit: Warning....the video has several swear words.
One of the funniest moments ever in a GTA game, is when the sheik arrives and finds his son in his undies........

I've tried to like GTA, but it doesn't do it for me. The gameplay itself, the content, the world/characters/story - yawn yawn yawn.
De gustibus et coloribus non disputandum est, I guess
My first GTA game was GTA London : 1969 and I absolutely loved it. A game that encouraged meaningless violence (Kill Frenzy!) seemed like a very refreshing concept. Was a bit disappointed with GTA III, but couldn't (and still can't) get enough of Vice City and San Andreas. I don't know why, but the series appeal to me like no other games do.
The great humour (especially the hilarious radio talk shows), fantastic music, the undertone of not taking all of it too serious and the freedom to do whatever you want to do (Don't feel like doing a mission? Ok, let's see how many wanted stars we can evade). For some reason, I find driving like a maniac to go on a mission, step out of the vehicle on route to my objective because I'm angry on some idiot getting in my way, beating up the guy, shooting around like a madman, then evading four wanted stars and continuing the mission like nothing happend, highly entertaining.
It makes me feel a bit like Michael Douglas in Falling Down :laugh4:

I think you would really enjoy "Republican Space Rangers" or "Princess Robot Bubblegum" :laugh4: Not sure if I can post a video or a link here, but google it; you'll be very amused.
Exactly my thoughts as well.

Not to mention finding the biggest ramp and the longest run up to launch a bus/fire engine/rubbish lorry/tank off. Oh, and hitting the whole line of Hare Krishna's in the original GTAs.
My favourite trick was to pull someone out of a car and then run them over with their own car. One of the games in the series gave you a points bonus for doing that...
Bizarely, I think I'm still a responsible citizen.

That's the spirit...of GTA. :D
