View Full Version : Way to mod culture penalties?

Ok, so this question stems from my Hayasdan campaign which I recently took a break from because of a few reasons, one of which was large culture penalties from huge hellenistic cities in my empire. Now I know that its hardcoded to have a culture penalty from the governance building in a settlement and that once you get to huge city, there is no going back. However, I remember from vanilla that if you captured the wonder of the pyramids, any Egyptian city you controlled lost its culture penalty. I was wondering if this mechanism could be harnessed and used in some sort of "cultural assimilation" building which would help maintain order in a province?
I looked through the wonders text file in the vanilla folder and could find nothing about their in-game effects. Has this stone already been overturned and examined? Just wondering since its such an annoying problem.
Might be worth modding in a small 20 or 30% law or happiness bonus to top tier cities core buildings. Not entierly unreasonable either considering most massive cities of the time didn't need to keep massive garrisons around. Rome rarely had vast wholescale revolts just because a single unit of soldiers decided it had to move out for a second.

I guess this has been already examined? Just hoping against hope I suppose.

Be careful with that... ;)

Law Bonus to counter culture penalty will unbalance things since law bonus lowers corruption and why should a big city have low or no corruption at all just because it's big? Shouldn't it be different?
I modded 15% happiness bonus for the biggest governor buildings depending on faction - barbarians also get 15% for the last two levels, Saka and Sauros get 10% for the last 3 levels and 5% law bonus (because thats what they get on their highest level, the third - minor city/densely populated area).
25% I found a little bit too high also that's the penalty the governor building gives.
