View Full Version : So there was a bomb at my work the other day
The cleaning person found it hidden in a rack of dress pants. I was stuck at the register, ringing people up when I noticed that my supervisor and a couple of other people wouldn't let people by the area where it was found. Then the police came and they paged for everyone to evacuate the store, I was in the middle of ringing a lady up and she asked if we could finish, I told her I thought we should leave because I was anxious to find out what was going on. Then she got a little annoyed and asked again, so I finished the transaction and left. We all had to stand around for an hour while they got rid of the bomb, then we all went back in and continued business as usual.
It was kind of cool because we got paid to do nothing for an hour, then afterward business got really slow which was nice because it had been pretty busy before the incident. There wasn't really any mass hysteria or anything, everyone just casually walked out of the store. I'm guessing that the bomb was never supposed to go off, it must have been there for a few hours before it was found.

Is this a topic we should be discussing on a gaming forum? No offense or anything, bro.
Yes it is.
And you should sue the "lady" who was on the phone for attempted murder if she really wanted you to stay in a shop with a bomb in it.

"ringing up" is a common term for selling via cash register. Doesn't see much use outside of the States though AFAIK.
Man, I don't know you very well, but you seem to lead at least an interesting life as Mr. P. Iron.

Bombs are bad for business, and what's bad for your employer will be bad for the employees.

A bomb went off in the woods near where I live recently, kicked up a bit of a fuss. Linky. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-11787222)

Why not? This is the frontroom. Unless you meant because its a sensitive topic or something
Sounds like a prank
Yea could be. I didn't see it but from what I heard it didn't sound like it was Taliban grade construction or anything. The police told my manager that whoever put it there could have been trying to see what would happen and how everyone would react.
Wow, I was quite shocked when I read the title. Especially how casual you mentioned it. As if it was part of your normal day routine. Glad it didn't went of. Didn't you worry though?

Sometimes I go through similar situations. However, my work slogan is "Keeping warheads on foreheads."

That's because, mes cher, I don't bomb people. I simply help to insure America's pilots are physically fit to do so.

I would have yelled at the woman, she could have gotten both of you killed.

Not really. Maybe it has something to do with my age (I'm 20) but for some reason stuff like that doesn't bother me very much. I just have this feeling that I'm going to be safe and nothing bad is going to happen.
To be fair to the lady I was helping at the register, we didn't know it was a bomb yet because when they paged for everyone to evacuate the store all they said was that we were having an emergency.
