Fleet select CTD [Archive]

When I get past 130-140 turns, my fleets in campaign get real big, and I tend to have a lot of them. Right now, playing as United Provinces, and got 6 fleets full with first and second line ships.

However, when I select them everything stops for like 10sec, screen goes white and I crash to desktop. Anyone has ideas or fixes?
Operating Windows XP.

Somewhere in my mind is telling me this was fixed in a patch. Are you running the latest version?

The solution prior to the latest patch was to add a sloop to the fleet. That fixed a lot of CTD's. May it still works.
