It states that Europa Barbarorum is a Total Conversion mod, but what exactly does that mean? does it mean that if i download it I won't be able to play the vanilla version of RTW? or if not, what would it do to my copy of RTW Gold?

A total conversion mod is a modification that changes every single (modifiable) aspect of the game. You still will be able to play vanilla RTW even after you've installed Europa Barbarorum.

Oh and welcome to the org BTW.

Welcome to the .Org, and to EB ~ .

Since this is not really a tech question, I am moving this to the EB main forum.

The actual question is if you would want to play vanilla again at all after you´ve experienced EB ;)

I have nearly not played RTW vanilla for more than 2 years... In fact I can try my old pals: Pharoh's Elite Archers :P

I know I haven't played it in about three years now. No interest in doing so ever again, either.

I own BI, but aside from using the executable for EB, I've never played it. Once EBII appears, I'll buy M2:TW solely for the purpose of EBII, and once again I won't actually play the vanilla game.

I still sometimes enjoy playing elephant footballs with pigs in vanilla, and spamming unbeatable SPARTAAAANNNSSSSS in vanilla. Although my what so called "vanilla" game isn't vanilla anymore (having silly additions and tweaks and such stuff)

You don't even have a look at it? Thats like saying I don't eat sheeps testicles just coz they sound bad. At least I can say for a fact I don't like them coz they taste like balls.

CA make reasonable game engines, but god-awful games. I have zero interest in the medieval era (or BI's late antiquity/early medieval), I'm only buying M2:TW because I'll need it for EBII when it appears.

I've tried CA's games before, and know more than enough not to bother trying any more.

I think after an experience with a mod, especially such as EB, it´s really hard to get back to any original TW game.
But CA does something really good involving a large amount of people to play this games, who than, like many of us, i guess, discover the moding community and end up playing RTR, RS, EB and many others.
The only thing they could have done better would be releasing sort of tools to adjust the games. Even bringing such tools as DLC, which i actually dislike, would be an improvement, and perhaps a profitable act for the company, while keeping the community happy, and busy with moding.
But one thing CA simply has to change in the upcoming games is to implement the multi core CPU support - quad cores are pretty standard since years ( not talking about dual cores! )

Just try it and, who knows, you may enjoy it. Shall I remind you that once you said with conviction you'd only enjoy playing the Romans.
Even if you don't like Vanilla, there are some great mods for M2TW that make it worthwhile even before EB II arrives (which will still take some time).
