Hello, Ive made my own avatar i want to use it as my avatar, but do I have to upload it in the http://www.totalwar.org/Downloads/Uploaders/uaupload.php ?

And if yes, is my avatar going to be public? so everyone can use it right? but i want it just been used by me like 'special avatar', is it possible?

Thanks

The generic avatar (the small rectangle with the Hastati for me) is chosen from a pre-determined list.

The URL avatar is more open, but many users have it set though they can't see them (me included). I can't help you about guidelines for the URL one.

Hey divinelight.

First of all, welcome ~

URL avatars are more open, but the smaller avatar has to be picked from a list, as pever said. However, some members (like myself) have an avatar that has been slightly modified. You have to ask TosaInu (the forum Admin, his pm box is always open for members, but he's a busy man, so might take a while before you get a reply) first, of course, and the rules are still kinda strict on it (has to remain TW related and needs to resemble one of the predetermined avatars), but if you like to give your avatar a personal touch, you can always try slightly changing one of the pre-set ones you like and PM it to Tosa (no guarantee that he allows it, but you never know, if he likes it, you'll have an avatar with a personal touch).

Off the top of your head, how many current members have (would have if they werent moderators) customised/unique normal avatars?

I can only think of yours, your old robed one and Sigurds non-robed one.

Oh yes, I forgot one of the most important conditions. You have to be handsome, succesful, very special, highly intelligent and totally awesome to get a unique avatar :smug:

Having seen a photo of you, how much was the bribe to avoid those requirements?

Why, because it looks like I have Panda Bear ears with a bow made out of leaves in between, or because you think Toyotomi Hideyoshi is a sissy?

The first one..

Good, because I would hate for you to anger the spirit of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. He had a bit of a temper.

Haha, finaly I found a topic where I can say I have a custom avatar (not that you would know otherwise).
Earn the right to have a personal avatar and ask nicely. It's as simple as that. I asked/made a personal one after I uploaded a part of the ETW avatars.

To many members, the same style of avatars has a certain appeal, like school uniforms or team shirts. Our TW-avatars are part of the character of this site.

As an aside, I have high hopes for the Shogun 2 avatars. I hope the ninja/shinobi portraits are good. ~;)

A lot of people hope for a lot of things with Shogun 2, but you're the first i've heard hope for the portraits. :laugh4:

... and Sigurds non-robed one.

Sigurd unrobed? Now that's scary ... I'm afraid I'll have to vote against custom avatars if everyone is going to start running around sans toga.

Welcome to the Org, divinelight.

When it was pointed out to him that for a big, longhaired, scary viking he wasn't... well, that "big", Sigurd promptly bribed Tosa to be allowed to wear robes that covered all. Not that there was much to cover, mind you.

Right... now you have clearly gone over the line. Pray to your Lord for deliverance for this Northman shall disembowel you.

Hello divinelight,

Welcome to the totalwar.org forums, enjoy your stay.

[I created a new account through hotmail to see whether all works as intended; TosaInu]

Edit: still had to tweak some things.

TosaInu, if I might ask, what is that a picture of? It appears to possibly be some sort of pastry or cheese... and maybe a box of chocolate milk.

Hello Yoyoma1910,

I just uploaded a picture yesterday. That one is a shot from my webcam I made a while ago as I had a chat with family. It's my desktop and shows a lazy chair, part of my keyboard, a bottle of Purdey, a glass, a mug filled with Cafe au lait and a Tompouce with yellow puding and whiped cream.

I'll have to redo some, but as you may have noticed, the org supports two avatar systems again. You can configure your settings https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editoptions section Thread Display Options and choose what to see: avatars or profile pictures or both. In case a poster doesn't have a profilepicture, some of his old setting will be used. When he doesn't have anything at all in his profile, some default is displayed.

I did notice that, and uploaded a photo I recently took at the Cluny Museum, of a medieval combat manual, dated 1490-1500.

I saw it's a book, but not what it is. Is it Italian?

It appears to be from Augsburg, which I believe is in Bavaria.

Edit:

Also, if you look on the left side of the pages, you can somewhat pick up the imagry from the reverse page.
