what do you guys think? because ive been hearing this alot lately, I'd like to know the oppinion of my trusted reality check.
Brilliant no, talented yes. Rythm could be better imho, and too much dead weight.
Brilliant: 'Te koop, baby-schoenen, nooit gedragen', says so much with so little. (for sale, baby-shoes, never worn)
Brilliant: 'Futility' or 'Not waving but drowning'
Your heart is not yet in it, feels detached from your own reality

ah but u are immediatly talking bout my poetry. i am actually not talking about that. about my poetry i would have to agree about your first line. about the last, that is on purpose.
btw you didnt vote in my brilliant poll!!! ~:whip:
OI RESPECT MY AUTHORATHAY
Why intenional, got no problems of your own, much stronger an emotion to face these. It's is a power a poet should feed on, otherwise it's the not quite so bad latest r&b hit on MTV, made by and for people who don't really like music.
This remains my favorite http://users.fulladsl.be/spb1667/cultural/owen/futility.html
His despair screams in your face. He has seen things (WW1 thingie)

well thats your taste of poetry, there are alot of different kinds. the things that u have read are indeed distant of this reality because they are of another reality. its not that my heart isnt in it. It is a more epic kind of poetry not the down to earth stuff. i think you narrow down poetry to a thing that would exclude many of the worlds greatest poets.

It's true that I want to get something out of it, really understanding someone, understanding what's being said. Not just apreciating style

Obviously its not sarcasm?
I dunno man, I was a bit of a bad host when I met you, and through your time in my city, so I never really got to know you.
From your online persona, I'd say you're a nice enough guy. Brilliant would depend on ones definition of brilliant. I don't beleive any of us are really qualified to answer properly.

well its not so much style. i do have a message only its not a personally related one. and if anything can be said about my poetry it is that it is too heavy on the content and perhaps too little on the style as you already noted when you were talking about rythm.
i think that you like the emotional poetry more than you like the epic poetry in which more a scenery or a "picture" is being described than a situation or a feeling.
however you have made some good points of which i am aware :) but the emotional poetry just doesnt suit me. and i hope that i will succeed in creating my own style without becoming this

hehe i wasnt gonna tell you :P but you were... i forgive you though, because you are a good guy! i want to come back to australia one day, so you will have another chance and as said, u are welcome to come here.
i remember that day so well, it was a pretty cool day anyway. i had alot of trouble finding your place. i met this cute girl in a diner that i asked directions, if i wasnt going to you pever, i definitly wouldve hung out with her! i did enjoy the time i spent at ur place. but when i came back in brisbane i noticed that it is a good idea too check in in advance into a hostel before you go explore into the city. i had no place to stay, everything was full. i didnt have enough money to stay in a hotel. so i decided that i had 2 options, well 3 but one wasnt really an option. 1) stay at the cops 2) go into town and see if i could find a girl that would give me a place to sleep. 3) sleep in the park.
so i went into town and crazy enough i found 3 girls and guy, very nice germans and they said i could stay in their hostel room :) when i went back "home" (people i was staying with in between noosa heads and some other place) some days later i had a similar problem. lucky for me i met some norwegians with a van and a spare matrass + blanket and i stayed in the park near their van under the full moon. was really awesome!!! a cop woke me up XD and told me i really had to go or he would have to fine me haha
and while it is not sarcasm it is not a serious question either :P
I remember when you told us about that trick where you sat on your arm till it was dead.

Yes you are, the most interesting and well thought out Backroom posts come from you.
I would need a broader view of you than I have to say anything with certainty.

I need to go to the backroom more then.
Yeah, I'd like to come visit you one day TS, but it requires money, which i don't have.
You're a great guy and you're definitely a talented poet. The most important thing is however how much passion you have. I think you definitely have that, but make sure never to lose it. Being brilliant doesn't even come close to that.
To answer your question. Though I must first admit that I haven't read your latest work. ( I'll be visiting one of the speyksessies some day though) I don't think you're brilliant yet. But I believe you could be in the future. I wish you the best of luck with it anyway.
Warm regards,
-Gg
You used to be brilliant...but lately I feel your work is too commercial!
