Old boss the same as the new boss.
Lets cut education, healthcare, and spurn the infastructure
There are wars on boys, boeing needs to be paid, Lockheed needs a new yacht.
The sad part is as the middle class dies more and more of those with bleak job prospects will flock to the military causing more of a need to use something that was never supposed to be this bloated.
3 friends of mine have dropped out of college to join in the past two weeks simply because hey I dont like school and its a job.
What sort of values do we hold when the military is our most sacred institution? When it is beyond reproach and questioning?
At this point could we even make meaningful reductions? Or are to attached at the hip?
I don't want to her about the cuts they are making either, So we scrapped a jet that was going to replace a jet that was already the most advanced jet in the world BFD

That kinda makes sense, why should you waste mone on making better planes when you already have the best, dont replace what aint broke and all.

I think that highlights the failure of so many other institutions more than anything else.

Defense spending creates jobs - not crappy construction jobs that will be farmed out to Mexicans and disappear when the work is done, or the kind of jobs that will add more leeches to the Teachers Union's tit - but high paying, high tech jobs that attract the best minds from around the world. With most of our industry gone at this point, there aren't many of those jobs left.
That spending and those jobs then yeild innovations that have a direct positive impact on people's lives, such as the one that allows us to post here on the .org.
Long live the military-industrial complex!
I was kind of hoping Pelosi would thunk Boehner on the head with the gavel and have to get manhandled out of the Speaker's chair, but we can't have everything we want. C-SPAN's ratings would go through the roof.

How about we expand pure science and R&D departments within the government and hire up the surplus of PhD and Master degree holders who can't find a job. Then we can create an incentive for people to stay in school and at the same time leap frog everyone else in scientific advancements, leaving them the in dust. The wealth of the US directed toward science would create enormous progress that would directly start impacting American standards of living even 15-20 years from now.
So what are the Republicans planning on doing with science? Oh....
