View Full Version : Wireless Connection Problem
So my wireless was working fine at home... now I can't connect up at school. I can see all the networks, but windows won't let me connect now for some reason. It worked fine before on break on this very same connection. Any ideas? Anything I can clear or refresh to get it to work? Thanks.
I'd need more detail. How won't windows let you connect? What OS are you using? How are you trying to connect? What messages are you getting?

Windows XP via the standard windows wireless network. I can see the network, but when I click on it just says connecting, never connects, and goes back to its orginal state.

This could be an issue on the 'server' side, not necessary your side.
A couple of options could be restarting or disabling/re-enabling your wireless adapter before trying to join.
Another option could be releasing your IP, go to "Run...", type "cmd", type "ipconfig /release" (in cmd). This would release the saved IP on the computer which might allow you to connect.

Laptop works fine so it isn't the router, and ipconfig say I'm not connected.

Your PC may be failing to obtain an IP address.
Do you know how to manually assign an IP address to yourself ?
Perhaps some setting of the wireless network has been changed since you last connected to it.....
Try removing it from your preferred network list and then connecting to it anew. If there's any sort of encryption on it (there should be) you'll need the passphrase to do this.

After disconnecting my entire pc for 2 days, it now works. Technology confuses me.

Sometimes that's the way it goes. At Uni I can connect in the main building, but not the IT building. Even though it is the same network.
