Another backup is finished.
I wanted to make a post about it, but I don't have more time at the moment.
When you go to your https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/usercp.php you can edit your https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editprofilepic . You can upload a picture from your computer or you can link to a picture from your website, those things were there for a long while. New is that we added the hundreds of avatars we had from the past, to a section in our filemanager. You may be able to find something there to serve your needs.
Also new is that you can now decide even more how you view this forum. You can display the avatars with the forumposts or you can display profilepictures with the forumposts. You can also turn both on and both off. This can be set in https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editoptions
The extra signature picture and the broadband option are activated too.

Doesn't work it says I have no picture specified

Can't help further than that, its made no difference to me. Never seen URL avatars, and this latest thing hasnt changed what I see at all.

But your profile pic is so nice Frags!

Is this related to the mysterious ETW/NTW (idk) figure that now appears in the top-left of everyone's profile page?
Nah it showed my rl pic
And still does. ~D
Oh crap Tosa be a good salesman of poor operating systems and help me out here. Or is the German pulling my leg he has a devious disposition

Nah you still have the generic ETW guy that I have. Unless it shows up when its configured differently or something...
Perhaps this (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?132544-Avatar) explains it?

I just saw that announcement today. I have it set to only display profile pics now and I'm really enjoying seeing everyone's pictures. It gives people a bit more personality. Thanks for implementing this Tosa! (BTW, that looks like Patton's dog.)
I wonder how much awareness there is of this though? It looks like a lot of people haven't uploaded a pic - but I don't know if that is out of choice or ignorance of the change. I don't usually visit the Watchtower without cause, and it could have been months before I stumbled onto the announcements subforum. Maybe that's just me though...

I think for the heavy user of the forum, the person would know. Someone that just check a certain section every few days? Probably not.
I haven't set one up out of choice. I don't have a picture I identify with. I go avatarless if possible, apart from here. This even has become my MSN display picture, and I went pictureless on facebook for a long time before I closed it.
I love this little picture.

Not enough awareness I think, but the head is further than the hands. Glad you like it.
General Patton had a white bull terrier, hadn't he? This is indeed also one.
I used to be sceptical about too much avatar customisation, but seeing it in action, I have started to like it.
One thing, the 100 x 100 pixels limit is sort of odd, considering that the TW themed avatars are bigger, up to at least 140 px in height.

You still got your face as a second avatar, if that's the problem.
Glad you like it Viking,
100*100 is the default setting I believe. I haven't even tried differently. I recall we went for 70*142 when we had the URl avatar system. We may as well use those settings.
