Maj Winters Passes away Jan 2 (http://photoblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/01/10/5804380-farewell-to-wwii-hero-maj-dick-winters-central-character-in-band-of-brothers)
Major Dick Winters passed away Jan. 2 in central Pennsylvania following a battle with Parkinson's Disease. If you've read Stephen Ambrose's book or watched the HBO miniseries, you'll likely already have mental pictures of Winters' acts of heroism during harsh fighting in Europe during the Second World War.

RIP Major Winters. Thank you for your service.
News gotten thousands of reactions on Dutch news-sites he's regarded as the best of men and we are really grateful. Glad he squeezed out a fine age.
edit, pointless but fun, the weasel took dualing pistols that have belonged to Napoleon from the Eagle's Nest, I know that because my father was interested in buying them. I supposedly met him but got no recollection of that

RIP.
His dishonest account of the Brecourt Manor assault is unforgivable in my opinion and calls into question a lot of the other exploits he claimed.
He was undoubtedly a strong leader and a brave soldier, though.

A good man, sorry he has passed
He did seem like a good man, going by the movies, but I also wondered how much of it was exaggerated or changed a bit to look more heroic.
Still like the movie for what it is though, sorry he's gone, but sooner or later it gets everyone apparently.

you should read his or ambrose's book. Both good for a general ww2 history read.

Just remember that they are historically based novels.

He died more than a week ago. And trust me, I have held back.

Still, its not respectful to bad mouth the dead, at least until mourning is over.
