I'm sure that most of you already know about the clan and its' importance in history. Well, one of the members of the clan (which exist even today, which makes it one of the oldest clans in the world, if not the oldest) pm-ed me via facebook where my nickname includes the "Suren-Pahlav" addon.
I'm posting this just for information about the clan, and i know that somebody on the forum will be interested in this.
Hi. Sorry for intrusion. May I ask how you posses Suren-Pahlav surname?
Our Clan's records shows that the last member of Suren-Pahlavs living in Georgia was in the 15th century. Are you one of the lost members or is this a Facebook adopted surname?
If you believe you are a member of the clan please keep in touch in order to to establish your lineage and to be registered on the clan's list. These days we use DNA and genetic mapping to establish the lost members.
All the best
Shapour Suren-Pahlav

Yeah, that's great. You should point them to EB, so they can ride the steps and rule over Asia like (as) their ancestors.

Aren't they stereotypically described as a disloyal ethnicity?

I say play the game... you answer : "yes of corse I was looking to discover my lienage since so long..." and say you discovered your origins through a book passed down the generations of your family that you just happened to have found in your attic... :))

found something in the attic and suddenly realize you are descendant of great peoples in the past?
sounds like Goofy :laugh4:

Do the right thing and be frank with the person. It would, in a sick way, be fun to play around. But presuming we're talking about an actual lineage, whether patrilineal, matrilineal, or mixed, I'd not consider screwing about. I would on the other hand ask for more information about the clan, learn about the family history, etc.

Yeah...right. I quit using my real name on FB because FB harbors this type of people (http://www.11alive.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=171876&catid=3).

Agreed.
Tell them about EB and the ethnicity that is represented in the game!~D

I agree, there's nothing more sacred than lineage.
Joke aside: i've already told the man that i'm not a real Suren-Pahlav. Ectually i did that short after i recieved that pm on damn facebook, (!) so do not worry. :)
meh, my family fought in Saladin army...that's a perfectly good ancestry. :clown:
speaking of which, did Kurds exist in EB's timeframe? I heard something aobut them being linked with the Medes, but cannot ascertain that.
Some link them to the Karduchoi metioned in Xenophon, I think the origin of the Kurds is pretty unclear though.

their original homeland is in the zagros mountains

I'm sure my family fought in some army (that narrows it down!), just can't point out which one. I've heard questions like yours before, and all I can think is in analogs. So, did barbie dolls exist in EB's timeframe? Well, not really, but their "ancestors" did, for lack of a better word (I do consider the word insufficient, btw; perhaps predecessor is better).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Zagros range was one of their homelands. I can also see other spots around or in the Near East as their homelands as well, since they wouldn't have one homeland. Unity is a convenient ideal, but rarely near the truth, unless over-simplified of course, IMO. I'm recalling some maps I have seen in the past. If you come across a map of the ancient Near East, try to find Korduene or Gorduene, the French and the English spell it in different ways. A German map would probably have different spelling as well. But I think that region is very closely tied to the history of the Kurds, at least a portion of their history, nevermind any other parallels they underwent. The ancients in Gorduene had religious ties to the ancient Hurrians; the Hurrians preceded the Kurds but lived in the same region of Gorduene in northern Meso., so it shouldn't come as a surprise if indeed the ancient Kurds worshiped the gods that the Hurrians did.
My ancestry bravely fought in celtics raids, and in the gauls war. From the other part, they fought french and english that stole their homeland for their "Kings".

I got a reply from the man. As I already mentioned here, I've explained to him that I'm not a real Suren-Pahlav clan member, and, in the case if he considers my false identification as a sign of disrespect of any kind, i promised him that i will change my name.
This is his reply:
Dear Andrej
Many thanks for your kind and honest response. Also my apologies for the later reply as I don't visit Facebook as often as I wish to.
As for the surname, I'm glad that someone who appreciates our clan's history is using it.
All the best,
Shapour
Well, at least i can tell that i'm somehow related to the clan itself :D

since the last common ancestry who is the same between us and chimpanzee....
since the last common ancestry who is the same between us and chimpanzee....
That's not what I meant, and I'm not even convinced of the chimp human ancestry ideal. I meant where your family tree and mine collide.
since the last common ancestry who is the same between us and chimpanzee....
actually, if you want to be accurate: all humans living today are decendants of people who lived c. 150,000-200,000 years ago, probably round East Africa. our particular lineage, (genera: Australopithicus, Homo, Ardipithicus, Kenyathropus, Paranthropus) diverged from the Chimpanzees (genus: Pan) between 8 and 5 million years ago.
