Does it change your mood?
Do you become a different person when you are drunk?
Now I have certainly been drunk before (please don't judge me, I come from a long line of alcohol abuse I can't let mum and nana down) however, I am certainly the same person wether I have had 1 drink or 30. I don't become overly violent, sad, depressed or angry.
I am so even keel that my homies have started to take notice
This is not to say I have same God like drinking ability vomit and falls have happened and will happen again
I have also never been much of a wine drinker. I am a beer guy through and through. Vodlka and whiskey would probably be next on that list.
This is depressing because I like to be snotty and hoiler than thou and becoming a wino is the fast track to that (at least in America)

I wouldnt worry about it Strike just come over to Ireland and you will be seen as a funny guy to be worrying about moodswings cos of drink.
Ireland is the only place on earth where when you go on holidays anywhere in the world the top question you get asked on returning is "How cheap/dear was the drink and was it any good"

Replace Anglo with Presbyterian/Baptist/Methodist/Fundie Protestant cult (what got booted from Britain for getting between them and the drink ) and your in the ball-park.

Kinda funny when you think about it; even us, the stereotypical stuffy britsh, couldnt stand the stuck up gits.
I stop when I'm starting to feel drunk, but I sure as hell know people who are completely different when they had too much.

Well I had a prof. in Community College who was named MacPherson (a lot of Scots immigrated to Canada in the 19th century). He told me about the 2 types of Scotsmen.
1st type Presbyterians: We dun'nae tolerate the devils brew here lad! :rulez:
2nd type Catholics: *hic* Whens the last time ye were sober mate? ~

Funny I think Germany has the highest Alcohol intake there is and you see very little drunkenness.
Think we have almost no tariff on the stuff either. Nothing like UK or Ireland for sure. The shops here are less than duty free there.
We have a spirits shop in Munich called Tara that specializes in Irish and Scotch Whiskey and there are always people in the shop from the isles.
Anyway different spirits effect me differently. So it depends on what I am drinking. But I am not fond of being drunk.

Which just shows how much we really like drink even with a huge amount of duty ~
For a minute I though you were talking about stuff like 7up and sprite as in soft drinks but it's supposed to be Spirits right

I stop drinking before I'm drunk: the cue is when I start feeling a bit unsteady. So I don't really have the vomiting or can't-remember-doing-that experiences. But while I still drink I don't really notice much of a change in my mood or personality.

I get happier and more social.
....which is the reason we drink, isn't it?
Oh, and since most of you are in the "I just have a nip"-crowd, is this where I tell you that I never stop until I get absolutely shitfaced/run out of stuff to drink? I either drink until I'm pissed, if I don't want to get issed I simply don't drink at all. Its all or nothing for me, being tipsy is a sign of alcoholism in my book.
If you have no problems checking your cell on a sunday morning, you're doin' it wrong.
I don't get really violent, sad or whatever. I do speak before I think often, so I can become a bit rude or say things I shouldn't have. Most people except for my girlfriend find it more amusing then offensive. Oh when I'm drunk I also have to constantly remind myself that I have a gf. I don't do anything wrong, but I'm constantly tempted though. But I just repeat in my head that I've got one already and that appears to work.

 What you mean pubs in Norway actually close on time, if they shut on dot here sure half them would go broke in a year.
Some of the best pints I ever drank were by candle light in the wee small hours, I swear it actually tastes better when it has a bit of illegality about it.

Serving stops at 0300, then you have half an hur to drink up until you're thrown out at 0330. And since I'm not living in a corrupt state, everyone follows that. There are no puba open here after 0330, and there's no place to get a beer after 0300.

You should do like Ireland put closing time back to about 1200ish and then everyone can enjoy a few sneaky drinks after till 3. I swear it's done on purpose to let the Irish people blow off steam so we dont revolt over the banks and whatnot.

There's more to Britain than England, you know. Rounds these parts we are the stuck up gits. And yet we have a worse drinking culture than even England.

In the UK the problem is so much responsibility is taken from the individual. If you get plastered to the point of insensibility you get a free ride to the A&E, get a hangover cure (IV fluids) and a supervised bed for the night. Responsibility of personal safety in towns is taken care of by a police presence to help sort out the fights / disputes etc etc.
If there was still the "drunk tank" where people slept it off - and ran the slight risk of aspirating on their own vomit - they might be somewhat less cavalier. Similarly if they were left to their own devices in the towns it might be seen of less of a laugh for all concerned - especially after a few get stabbed / fall down and break something serious.

Yeah I saw that on BBC2 last week or something. Wth, was that about? If the ambulance has to come and get you, you will pay quite a nice sum of money. So if he/she lives with his parents, he will not get out of the house the first months and if he or she's not than they don't have enough money to go out.:laugh4:
Funny though how some people panic and call an ambulance for nothing, though.

I get really mellow and go to sleep. I'm very boring. :embarassed:
That makes two of us. I get quiet, tending to speak less than usual - which everyoner loves - and I usually, if in a group or crowd, tend to wander off and sit quietly by myself and just think.
On the other hand I know some people who get very loud, refuse to ever sleep ever again once drunk, cling to you like magnets, and make you wish they would have an accident just so they would shut up.
