The better days are past. It used to be that I had such fun with the EB Tavern cliche, but we all moved on with our lives. We aren't those young, foolish kids anymore. Those boys were the reason I kept coming back, but now... Now, I have to ask myself, "Why?" It's weird. Whenever I come here, it feels like I'm wandering down the halls of my old high school or something. I feel as if I don't belong here anymore. I can look at this place all I want, but the experiences will never happen again. The life is gone.

Maybe I just need a new girlfriend to spice up my life or something. I don't know.

You sense the doom as well? May you find a new niche. Or, in the very least, a new home.

But I know your feelings. My times on the org have past, and my love of it has waned. I have no real reason to be here, yet I am. Will I be here much longer? Who can say. Will you be here as well?

This is the way the org ends.

I can relate in many ways, and not just here. It's funny how things can turn around. Sometimes it comes to you. Other times you just have to create it for yourself (or not, but grieving over it too much isn't very healthy). Or, just wait, and see.

I remind myself of the scene from the movie "The Untouchables," with Ennio Morricone's brilliant soundtrack swelling as Malone lies bloody and dying on the floor of his apartment. With his last breath he grabs Ness by the shirt and gurgles: 'What are you prepared to do?!

That, and this:

Interests change with time. Some can find new within the old, while others, must constantly seek something new when that once new thing has become old. Faces, new and old, will always come and go. The .org however, will always be here, with perhaps only one member, welcoming some, and saying goodbye to others.

So you would leave me alone here among all the White Europeans?

You think your mission has ended? You have cured all the lovelorn and no longer have any opinions?

What else is going on?

There must be something deeper...

Let me spin us all a yarn.

Imagine a day when The Guild is dying. So many of our members have left that the forum could essentially be called catatonic. Imagine that the place becomes so dull and boring that our lord and God, TosaInu, leaves. And never comes back. And then the Moderators go, as well as almost all the remaining member. The last Moderator leaves. Without TosaInu, no new Mod can be appointed. With no Moderator, The Guild is taken over by trolls, flamers, and spambots. Imagine that those few, those final remaining faithful few, are driven from the forum. The Guild is left abandonded to die at the hands of the bots and the trolls. Then one day the forum goes down. But with no TosaInu to repair it and bring it back up, noone-not even the spambots-ever post again. The Guild dies.

Imagine.

Is this scary? It should be. This is the future of The Guild. But wait! Do not give up hope yet. This miserable death is not yet a foregone conclusion. The Guild can still be saved, but only by swift and decisive action. We cannot wait, for every moment we postpone making the neccessary changes to this forum to save is increasing the chances that our measures will be in vain. Act now, and act conclusively! Indecisiveness will only play right into the hand of fate-but one that can for now be changed.

You probably come here only out of habit, as do I. I still care about what happens to the .org, but I also accept that I'm powerless to do anything about it. Being in a situation where we can only sit back and watch this place go down is depressing and often frustrating.

the meadhall is already dead. the forum for NTW was never really alive. and ive never even set foot in the STW2 forum and ive barely been in any forum after RTW which i spammed gloriously. those were good days man. days of cowboys and loose spammers. you could get hit with a poll whenever u werent watching and the keepers of law were rough men theirself and they didnt mind a lil fun. then the dark days of order kicked in and ever since ive felt this place die inside a little every day. the names of glory fade, who remembers The Emperor, Jag, Craterus, BKS and Beiruit... only the old men who sit on the benches and stare into nothing. remniscient of the past, they wonder what is left to live for and one by one the RL claims them. They will be gone forever and soon there will be noone left like them to remember.

I haven't cared about TW games for many years now. I come to the Org for the people. If the people go elsewhere, I will go elsewhere. So, a question I've had for a long time is... where else do you people post? If the Org becomes unviable, it would be nice to have a place where I could still find a lot of you. I know TWC is the obvious answer, but I'm not really keen on joining another TW site since I don't care about TW anymore. CFC maybe (shame about Civ V)? Someplace else?

the meadhall is already dead.

Not in my mind. For me it is something like a beginning with no end. It all became with the death of a high-ranked official, his "bad" son as a main (?) suspect and several love affairs between various characters ... I admit I wanted something new and innovative... (I might have been too innovative with the love triangles... ~:D)The result was a mixed success (or failure), I would say... To make the things worse, I got less and less time and more and more ideas. Now there is something like a trilogy in my head. A story before the current story, a plot after this story, the current story, of course. And I missed to add one or two more stories on the same theme. That's very ambitious, I know. Especially for a non-native speaker... Time will tell what will happen with these thoughts...

Anyway, perhaps there is still a chance for the Mead Hall to arise like a phoenix from ashes...(if the inspiration to the members of this club returns)

P.S. And yet, it will be great shame if I leave the mystery of Nicephorus' death without an ending scene...

P.S.2 Ah, yes...the Org. has really helped me improve my English... Even outside my clumsy writings, this is a very useful result from my membership...

P.S.3 Why sound like people on a funeral? It's too early to bury the Org. alive... !

I come to the Org for the people. If the people go elsewhere, I will go elsewhere.
The people are going elsewhere - sad but true. This is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. I got involved in the recent watchtower thread in an attempt to try and highlight some (what I see as major) issues here. I suggested, the removal of the junior member system and of the restrictions on avatars. I also suggested a change in moderating style and end to hyper moderating of every aspect of a patron's participation (nannying). As ever the administration ignored this. Now somewhat conversely, we see a massive staff recruitment drive - so instead of easing off on moderation, the members here now have even more mods on their cases. All this on a forum that is struggling to get decent levels of participation - just who are these people going to be moderating exactly? Simply throwing more staff at this won't solve the problems here at the .org - looking at why so many staff and members have left recently might be a better use of time...

All right. If you look things from the bright side, people still come to ask about MTW and STW. We are still the leaders there. The bad news is that these games are getting outdated i.e. we need to focus on something else. Another narrow set of games that fit the membership taste could be OK. I wonder... aren't there a good set of medieval strategies to attract members? Just an idea.

Yeah, if the Org ever goes, I'm probably gone as well. I doubt at this period I would care to join another forum, because even if there was interest there, it would die soon. The people are what draws me back here as is. I can play TW myself at this point, I don't see the need to talk more about it.

Megas, if it helps, most of the people I really knew and loved/hated left before you even joined.

Groups of people change, people come and people go. The Org is no different; its attitude will inevitably change somewhat over time. It's not dying, it just looks different as time goes on.

I might also add that people change as well. I've gone from awkward kid, to laid-back stoner, to unpleasant drunk (mostly on the chat, where people actually wondered if I was the same person as Rev. Gonzo) (by the way, where IS the chat? I don't see a tab for it anymore) to more relaxed drunk. At the moment, I'm more acclimated to the somewhat rougher territory of the PWoT fora; they really put the calmness of these fora in perspective.

Point is, things change, people change... nothing can be dome about it, just keep on chooglin' and try to find the best place to fit in.

I believe the Camel is a noble creature, capable of driving those unworthy from itself with bodily excrements and emissions. Mithrandir was crowned as the Lord of Camels many years ago. Martok the Stablemaster and Caravel of Many Names served faithfully.

Over time, however, Caravel drifted away. I came to work under Martok in the stables.

Years passed, and Martok was elevated to the position of Moderator. To honour him, Mithrandir relinquished the title of Camel Lord to Martok, and took up his destiny, becoming the Emperor. As reward for my faithful service, I was elevated to the position of head of the stables.

In their absence, I rule.

I have not forgotten my roots, however. Are you volunteering to take up a shovel Prussian?

The Order of the Camel (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/group.php?groupid=20) and the Camel Worshipping Collective (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/group.php?groupid=107).

The strangest thing was that I presumed you never got camels in Australia...

I thought the same for many years until: http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/camels-a-scourge-of-the-desert/story-e6freoof-1111118406912

THE world's largest herd of wild camels is eating its way through central Australia and is thought to have Queensland in its sights.
More than a million camels are inflicting major damage on 3.3 million sq km of fragile desert ecosystems, including the Simpson Desert in Queensland's far southwest. They wreck scarce water supplies, eat rare plants, mulga and grazing pasture and knock down fences.

Northern Territory Natural Resources and Environment Department scientist Glenn Edwards said the herd was doubling in size every nine years and although numbers in Queensland were not known, it was thought they were expanding their range.

Camels in Australia are the only feral herds of their kind in the world, and are estimated to number more than 1,000,000, with the capability of doubling in number every nine years. The Australian camels are descendants of camels imported into Australia, beginning in the mid-19th century, to help lay the foundations of the nation.

Doesn't Australia have any bombers? Hell, even if they don't have any surveillance satellites I'm sure the US will be willing to oblige.

Mass destruction is the only way to do it, baby.
