I speak Spanish fairly well, now this is mostly in a futile and ongoing attempnt to meet a Spanish woman but that is a story for another day

The problem is I speak Spanish like I speak English slow and deliberate. Most Spanish speakers speak very quickly, as result the language sounds beautifual but it makes it that much harder for me to understand

Tips?

Don't bother with Spanish, use the International Language of Love. A woman won't care how slowly you conjugate your verbs if you are good at other forms of oral achievement. :eyebrows:

Drink mass quantities of tequila. You'll notice a considerable perceived slow down of their speech, giving your brain more time to process/interpret what they said.

See I understand it but by the time I decipher 1 word they have said 3 more

Maybe if they started slow and gradually built up....

Wanting to learn to speak spanish is the perfect pretense for dating a latino woman. Meet her, talk to her, give her some of your mediocre spanish, and when she laughs at you, dare her to teach you. Like women everywhere, they like to mold their men into what they want, so they will see you as a puppy they can shape and influence. Be warned, though, that just because they can speak it does not make them good teachers. Also, it's hard to concentrate on semantics when you are staring at her breasts. You might also be prepared to have lots of children because traditional Catholic latinos women want babies and lots of them.

If I could get back one woman with whom I screwed up the relationship with, it would be the Peruvian who always tried to teach me Spanish. She was a keeper, but the baby thing irked me and working 70 hours a week is not condusive to keeping a passionate woman

Working class Americans learn Spanish at school, and pick up more from their colleagues at the burger joint where they work in summer.

Upper class Americans learn French at school, and pick up more at their family's summer holidays in Europe.

So I guess it is all a matter of what you wish to project. :smug:

Spanish will land you a hot, loud and fun Latina who'll turn into a hardworking, caring mother for your children. French will land you a gorgeous trust fund blonde who studied art history and follows wine appreciation courses. It is all a matter of preference. :book:

I dunno, dude, I think many Americans are adverse to learning a foriegn language unless the desire to do so was instilled at a very early age. College was too late for me. My brain isn't built for it. Or maybe its just my southern upbringing. Until the turn of the century I don't think most parents/children appreciated the fact that being bilingual would -- at the least -- help in job prospects.

So I copped out and learned a dead indian language because it was easy (the entire OU football team was in my class)

I wish they offered sign language then like they do now, I would have been all over that.
