Star Wars, here we come!

We're catching up with your technology. I've got a good feeling about this!

I was staring closely at my screen, my nose next to it, under the impression that this was one of those trick 3D patterns, where an image emerges out of the picture after a few moments....
Could not have been more wrong. My eyes are watering.

Hold your thumb close to the center of the image, and then focus on your thumbnail tip. Then while maintaining focus on your thumbnail tip slowly bring your thumb closer to your eyes until the shark outline shows up. Repeat as necessary until you see the shark outline.

The picture in the OP shows a swimming shark in 3D.

The second picture is 3D too! Has anybody managed to see the chess board in 3D too? And I don't mean a slightly 3D-ish drawing of the chess pieces, I mean seeing it in actual 3D. You will know it when you manage it. It is really quite spectacular!

I hate these things. I couldn't see either, even using Togakure's instructions. :embarassed:

Does having terrible depth perception leave me out? I saw a brief and flitting image of a shark, but that could be just my mind being hopeful

The position your eyes should be in, is slightly cross-eyed. Like staring at the tip of your nose, so you see it double - but then the exact opposite movement of this. That is, to look at somehting at a great distance.
Both your eyes should move towards your ears. It is nearly impossible to mpove your eyes in this manner consciously. The way to achieve this is to look through the picture at something in the distance behind it.

I have noticed that the easiest way for novices to achieve this is by looking at that picture of Hillary's cleavage.

I found the chess set to be much easier to view in 3D; I just unfocus my eyes while looking at it and it jumps out. Neat.

I had to try several times to see the shark, and it was still a bit vague for me. That was a much tougher one to see for me.

I couldn't see the shark at first, and usually these images are easier for me, so I followed the link back to its source and found those instructions below the pic. I posted them in case folks were having the same trouble with it that I was. I'm thinking it's harder (for me) because it's not a static image.

I voted that Louis was up too late last night, using metal paint in a confined space and swilling tinctures of mercury for, for, uh...his problem.

Get some sleep before you do real damage...like that one pic with the cleavage.

I don't see a thing. it's just random gobbly-goo.

The shark one is rather difficult for me as well. It takes me several tries and I can't maintain it for very long.

Here (http://www.erked.com/2010/06/19/magic-eye-illusions-can-you-find-the-hidden-picture/)'s a link to the same image, except that it's static, with different instructions (scroll down a bit). I find it a little easier, but it's still a tough one.
