Hello all, nice to be here.

I decided to join up after lurking on here for a while, and my first post is a question.

What symbol is on the Baktrion Agema's shields? All the pictures I can find of them are a bit too blurry or shiny to pick out details. I'd like to know because I'm currently building and painting a miniature Baktrian army and the shield designs will need to be printed onto transfer paper for the models. From what I can see, it looks like an ovular shield with cutouts on both sides filled with a circle, but details are impossible to see. :inquisitive:

Thanks for the help, all. If anyone could pop into EB and take a closeup screenshot for me, then that would be perfect. Unfortunately I got rid of my videogames a while ago to concentrate on school, so that's why I'm asking you guys for help. :P

Cheers.

It's from a gold find at Tillya Tepe. To be honest, the equipment is a bit late for a mod starting at 272 BC. How we will change it for EB2, I don't know. But if you want a decent image, here is a start: http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2011/feb/19/afghanistan-crossroads-exhibition-british-museum

Thank you very, very much! The design on the shield of the man behind the standard bearer is also very interesting. Could anyone give me an explanation for that one?

Thanks again,

I think that was answered before, tough i can't find it atm. I know that the guy asked because it kinda looks like something that is not, from the girl on the left... Try searching Baktria general shield or sth...

Hope this helps

That would be Dionysus flanked by two Maenads. Dionysus was said to have conquered Baktria or at least traveled through it. Hence the connection to Dionysus and some Baktrian imagery.

Thanks very much, guys. :) I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to print such a complex design, but we can always hope. :P I'll post up the results when I'm done with them, but be warned, it might have to wait for months. XD

Thanks again.
