I walked home from school today.

Distance from school to home: 7.41 miles
Time it took me to walk from school to home: 2.5 hours
Number of times I stopped to rest: 1
Number of blisters on my feet the size of Texas: 4

Dang I feel accomplished. :beam:

lol, really? You must not walk much. :P I take a 2.5 mile walk minimum ever day, and I have walked over 15 miles in one day before...and did not get a single blister...maybe it is the shoes that you are wearing...

I agree, you are too cushy adn your shoes hate you. But, it is a great start to a healthier tomorrow. Your weather is nice, though, no?

Hehehe, now swim 3 more miles and chop a cord of wood when you get there and you'll match what grampa did every school day.:laugh4:

I do walk a lot, just not 7 miles.

I was wearing combat boots (not sure why) which explains why I got the blisters.

Yeah, the weather was nice, in fact it was amazing.

Good for the weather, bad for the blisters.

I think the awesome weather will roll out of the midwest by tuesday. : /

Well, you could also be driving fence posts and running Barbwire around 60,000 Acres of Ranch Land... Worst. Job. Ever. Got some good muscles though.

Anywho, I won't ruin this for you Hooah! Good Job, now 7 more tomorrow.

It takes the average person twenty minutes to walk a mile, so you made it in pretty decent time, particularly as you stopped for a rest!

At my last job, I had to walk five miles per day across the local beach, that was utterly draining, particularly when it was scorching hot.. I feel your pain on the blisters front! :P

Years back when I lived in the boonies of the boonies and was dirt :daisy: poor, it was a ten-kilometer (9.9 to be exact) walk to the store. Laundry in a backpack, walk in, do laundry, get groceries, walk home. And the home trip was uphill. Never got many rides. Half the people wouldn't pick me up because they didn't know me and the other half wouldn't pick me up because they did.

Was poor, but in great shape. I did that walk at least four or five-times a week for about two-years. There were days I walked into town, spent six-hours mowing the lawn at a guy's house, bought groceries with the money, and then walked home. I slept very well.

OK, seeing that you are a "future soldier" you are well on your way!

Now you just have to bring your time down to under 2 hours, wearing a full pack and carrying a rifle and not taking a rest. Standard marching speed is 4 MPH, if I recall correctly. To simulate marching in desert conditions, I suggest carrying a bag of sand with you and eat a handful every 10 minutes (which is what happens if you are not marching at the front of your platoon).

Once you have that down, then we can get you started on "double time"... ;)

My Advice: Get some decent inserts for those combat boots.

yeah it is sort of surprising you got bad blisters with combat boots.

1. are they legitimate combat boots
2. did you wear proper socks
3. are they like black gi joe boots

My first mile was actually 16 minutes, but when the blisters developed I went significantly slower. Plus my feet went numb after 2 miles from the pain, but I kept going.

They were the Oakley Sabot High boots. I borrowed them from a friend, so thats probably why they hurt so much. And no, I didnt wear proper socks. My bad.

Proper foot wear that fits is a must. Better to prevent blisters than try to heal them. I always carry a small roll of athletic tape and that new-fangled "liquid skin" spray to cover any hotspots before a blister develops. Before liquid skin I used to use a dab of super-glue. I do 3 miles in the morning before work, and 3 miles in the evening after dinner 5 days a week. I walk for 3 minutes, run for 5; takes about 40 minutes for that 3 mile lap. Keep plugging Hooaguy.

Nah. Ya gotta walk before you can run.

actually he has to crawl even before that.

hooah you need to start a crawling regimen

a completely inoffensive name

OP is so full of ****. If the blisters were the size of Texas, I would be able to see them from here. And I can't. And I am outside looking right now.

Well, I dont think that will be necessary. Just wear better shoes (tie in). And if you cannot find any....well....crawl.

Guys, crawling is not a solution. If he is going to crawl that far he is going to need kneepads and some good gloves...and if he can't afford good shoes, then he can't afford gloves and kneepads.
