6 honor daimyo.
chosokabe.
have never declared a war!
own two trade nodes.
have five provinces.
and now the matsuda, hayatekemaya and the shoni have declared war on me. they together own about 2/3 of the board. bye bye profits.
i could still make some profits but the remaining clans dont sdee me fit to trade with even though i would bring them like a thousand koku each.
really ca wtf.
Well first of all that 1000 koku isn't what they would get, that is what YOU would get. Any AI faction would probably make significantly less if they control 0 trade resources. And not declaring wars/having high honor Daimyo doesn't mean you're reliable, trustworthy or anything. How are your relations to said AI clans?
AI seems to want some money in addition to the trade agreement if you would make a lot more money out of the agreement than them, after all they don't want you to prosper too much.
Only diplomacy related problems I've seen so far is that the AI refuses to accept "moderate" offers, at best gives a counter-offer and that sometimes you get diplomatic relation penalties for no-good reasons.

no ive done the math they get 1000 im making like 2000 off it. my relations are either friendly or very friendly.
ive tried giving them money but they want 5k at a time and then they break it two or three turns later.
To the OP:
Keep track of AI clan relations from the diplomacy screen. Gift money, give hostages, marry off your daughters or whatever to keep peace if you can't take the heat.
For the trade, the simple (but a slightly exploitative) approach is that you move all your ships just a bit off the trade nodes before negotiating the trade agreements. Then move them back. This way, usually have "high" as the probability of them accepting the trade, instead of low or moderate when you'd have to pay for them to accept.

The break-ups are often result of ports being blocked or provinces being taken over.
I find that researching the diplomatic Chi techs is a good way to keep your trade going. Also, select trading partners from clans which have more stable provinces. If someone is flipping a few provinces every turn, the trade will break all the time.

no they break as in a concious effort not just as like unable to trade.

um... this is why they won't do it. the AI isn't just going to send you a bunch of money so it can get less money.
there's no trade "issue" in this game; the ai just gets pretty smart about when it's help you more than its helping itself and acts accordingly.

In that case I find the AI quite smart, they lose the profits while you gain huge amounts of money so it's more of a "hey, give me a piece of the pie as well, don't take all of it".
