People have been commenting that they feel the forum is slow right now. So I thought I'd give you something to do and comment on. Ancient battles are often depicted and reconstructed in books as 2d or 3d maps with the units shown as labelled blocks. Directional arrows are also used to show the course of the battle and statistics of the numbers involved and where units were from are on the side.

So I ask you to take a screenshot of the battle statistics of a campaign or custom battle you fought and represent the battle with a 2d or 3d image similar to the following:

With the AI being what it is; I expect this will be hilarious.

Can't wait for a nomad vs nomad battle. Lol with all the HA's, that'll be a piece of work.

The OP never mentioned anything about the AI, so don't feel so constrained. Feel free to download replay packs (http://ebonline.tk/tournament_replay_archive.html) from last summer, load them up into EB, and draw your sketches. There are some particularly interesting clashes that occurred. If you chose to load 'em up, make sure you've got the right files (EDU and whatnot).

EDIT: Tanit mentions campaign and custom battles. If you ask me, the latter encompasses both AI and human opponents.

Really basic hammer-anvil battle. The AI, stupid as always, attacked my phalanx from the front with almost all they had. I then attacked from behind with my cavalry, routing the whole Seleukid army.

Is there any free or open source software any of you would recommend for doing this? Tanit? How can I make these diagrams?

GIMP or even MS Paint could be used, at least that's my plan.
