I am starting a new campaign as a western "barbarian" tribe. I'm partial to the Casse, but hate their bodygaurds. How are the Lusotannan & Gaulic tribes economies?

lusotan gets filthy rich fast with their silver mines, Gallic, Aedui have a very decent economy once you develop roads and markets...

moon, I think you're missing his point. He targets the term "barbarian", which I think is quite unnecessary as the OP seems to be on the same page on this already. He's just using the word to quickly and easily point out that he want a western faction that isn't Rome or Carthage etc.

Besides, the world ends at the Bosphorus. ;)

In any case, both Gallic factions outclass the Lusotannan in infrastructure and have better bodyguards. You don't get as stinking rich as quick, but this is in my opinion a good thing.

i have yet to see a keltic war rag tag breach a proper lusotanan army with it´s center composed of lusi mediums iberian lancers and balearic slingers only gaesatae carnutes and arnos (?) seem to make a dent and even then they can flanked and shoot with some nice soliferums on the backs

besides the luso bg´s are fierce and can take the keltoi bodyguards after having soften them up with some nice soliferums XD

actually a levy low armoured army can present itself to be more problematic then a proper keltic well armoured army because the soften up doesn´t seem to be that effective against unarmoured troops but then again in hand to hand they tend to rout far faster

the lusi´s top strenght is without a doubt the soliferum not the economy and the iberian units with the northern skirmishers and axemen the cavalry the labaratores(?) slingers and the lusi medium are strong enough to take on almost anyone (luckly cathrafacts are far away to the east)
