Hi, this is my first post on the forum. I recently downloaded and installed EB total war 1.1 and patch 1.2 onto my rome total war gold for steam. I followed all the directions given and the program opened up fine. Unfortunately when I tried to start the Romani campaign the game crashed to the desktop while loading. So, i painstakingly uninstalled and consequently reinstalled both my rome total war, and the EB total war. Only to get the exact same results. So here i am to post my problem in hopes that i can fix this bug.

Welcome to the forum!
See the EB-FAQ (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=84854) if you are new to the mod.
Concerning your problem, please add -nm to the end of your target line (this will disable movies).
Don't forget to include the fixes for 1.2 (you can get them directly from my sig)
Post back if it didn't help in your case!!

I added -nm to the end of the target line. Same results. (except there were no videos) i just downloaded the 1.2 fixes to see if they will work.

They don't have anything to do with starting CTD's.
Please run validateinstallation.bat found in your RTW folder and post your results here (run it as admin).

I ran it but all i got was this:
[QUOTE]First, the validation will prompt you to download a checklist.
Then, it will check your installation against that list.
If the program immediately exits, you may not have Java installed.
You can get that for free from http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp
If you are running Vista and installed EB under Program files, you may
get a blank results file. On Vista, you need to install EB outside of
Program files.
Press any key to continue . . .
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Unable to load native library: Can't find dependent libraries
Validation is complete. There should now be a new file called
"ebValidationResults.txt" in this directory. Open it by pressing any key.
Press any key to continue . . .

Ok, so it did exit from beginning or was just the ebValidationResults.txt empty?
For the second, download this altered validation tool (ftp://europabarbarorum.org/Validation/validation.zip).

Hmm, it seems as one or more files are either corrupt or missing in the EB installation and thus crashes the game when they should be accessed.
One option to go is to reinstall and see if the installation went wrong (even if you did so already).
Otherwise, update your Java and run the validation again, maybe it will work then.

Ok, seems there has to be something with your computer, things you might want to look into:
- graphic drivers updated?
- AntiVir-program deactivated while installing and/or starting the game
- check your launch parameters (should be: -mod:eb -show_err -ne)
- Vanilla RTW works fine?
- EB'S custom battles work?
- any submods installed?
It is very hard to see for me what is wrong as I can't look into your system....

Since I'm unsure of RTW:Gold downloaded through steam, is your version of vanilla properly patched? I don't know if the steam version already comes with patch 1.5 I believe?
