Somewhat general title, so here are my specific questions.

- can anyone provide me with links and suggestions for books (I'd prefer academical rather than popular history) about the Napoleonic Imperial Guard?

- Austrian Army in the Napoleonic Wars books

- Prussian Army in the Napoleonic Wars books

- cavalry tactics and equipment

- artillery tactics

I know of the Osprey books, it's just that I'm searching for very well documented books that I could sink my teeth into. :book: Does not matter how big the book is, as long as it's very well documented and available on Amazon or other reliable websites, I'm all for it.

Thank you historians.

Hm there is "Swords Around A Throne: Napoleon's Grande Armee" by John R. Elting, although it does not deal purely with the Guard it is still a great work.

For the Austrian army then I would say "Napoleon's Great Adversary: Archduke Charles and the Austrian Army 1792-1814" by Gunther E. Rothenberg.

For cavalry and artillery tactics... A book like "Battle Tactics of Napoleon and His Enemies" by Brent Nosworthy does deal with both IIRC and gives an OK overview. "Galloping at Everything" by Ian Fletcher gives some nice details although it is only British cavalry. If you want more specific details about artillery then "Artillery of the Napoleonic Wars 1792-1815" by Kevin F. Kiley is a good choice (although he and his calculator had a bad day, but that is just me being picky)

Don't have any books on the Prussian army per se, as that is scattered over several works. The closest thing I got is "Yorck and the era of Prussian reform, 1807-1815" by Peter Paret. An old piece that might not be easy to get.

The historian Peter Hofschröer has written a number of books on the Prussian Army - I haven't read them, but I know they've been quite influential in, for example, re-thinking the contribution of the Prussians to the battle of Waterloo.

Apparently he is the writer of "Prussian Napoleonic Tactics" (Osprey) due to come out later this year.
