Hello everyone. RTW is one of those games that I still play to this day; however I must say I have missed EB for its richness and depth. Even though I cannot complete a campaign without CTD issues :) I still want to play again. I have had the downloads backed up on my computer to make installation quicker for me and easier on servers... I must just say I am glad to be back.

I never had installation issues before, but tonight, alas! A seemingly simple error has occured. I followed the installation thread as I have always done. Clean install of RTW 1.5. Install 1.1. Install 1.2. Install ebd fix, script12 fix, script 12_2 fix, and vanilla sea. Then restarted computer.

Ran Preferences, and Config from the start menu to suit my desires.

Loaded up EB and the splash screen says 1.1

I figured maybe I accidently set an incorrect directory. So I checked in my RTW folder, chcked in my EB folder, and nothing seems out of place.

It seems I have made a general noobish installation error and even after uninstalling and reinstalling I have done it again.

I of course did a forum search to save you guys five minutes.

In any event: your assistance please, good sirs.

The 1.2 patch has to go into the exact same folder as 1.1, the plain RTW folder. Afterwards you delete the text in the brackets and re-install the fixes.
Don't install RTW+EB into Program Files while running Vista/Win7!

Post back if this did not help you!

Yeah I know it has to go in the same directory, to overwrite certain 1.1 files and add the new ones where the program is looking for them. I feel I am doing this but I am uncertain by your meaning of "delete text in brackets and reinstall files". The only time I recall seeing bracketed text that needed to be replaced was in the installation program, where I had to set the path to the matching directory of 1.2. That is, C: Games \ EB \ RTW. My regular Rome installation is at C: Games \ RTW and I am not directing anything there. I am on XP. Well I am gonna try again because this still feels like a misclick happened down the line.

I suppose I had a corrupt download even though I used it several times before. I redownloaded the 1.2 patch and it applied itself correctly. This thread can be trashed.
