So I came across this website called http://www.ifeveryoneknew.com/ and it features 5 facts that (people in the comment section of the website I got it from claim) would shift the way many Americans think.

I knew 3 of these, the other two were not surprising though. Maybe I have spent too much time looking up all this stuff to be shocked?

I didn't know the particulars but I more or less knew 1-3.

4-5 do surprise me although they sound a bit conspiratorial and I don't believe everything I read on the internet.

1-2 I basically knew in specific, 3 is obvious though I din't know the specifcs (every British child learns about the Blacks and Tans though), 4 sounds suspicious and 5 is an example of planning for every eventuality. I'm sure we have a plan to move our nuclear subarines into position to Nuke Washington and one to launch an invasion of France.

Is it mere coincidence that these five 'facts' move from 'uncontestable fact' to 'Yes, but bear in mind that' to 'With some spinning and some fancy lighting this looks just like'?

Clever way to draw in your audience, to gain their trust, to then have them follow you into unknown territory.

One thing I noticed is that the site's sources are either wikipedia, or mainstream news sites, which I'm guessing are somehow supposed to be suspicious due to fact #2?

4 sounds suspicious and 5 is an example of planning for every eventuality.

I knew about 1-4 but I never heard of 5 but it sounds plausible-ish cos the Army likely has thousands of plans on paper stored away.

basically 4 was the MK Ultra project (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_MKULTRA) it was an attempt to match the Soviets in all sorts of weird pseudo science and far out research.
(if you dont believe the wiki source then check the masses of references at the bottom of the page twas all declassified lately)

7. There is no sex in the champagne room.

edit: wait a minute...there was that one time in the pussycat club in Tel Aviv...
on second thought...that wasn´t a champagne room and according to Mr. Clinton that wasn´t really sex... :P
my mistake...carry on.

1) Check.
2) Did you know two companies dominate the soft-drink market? So what?
3) FBI obviously does suspect stuff, it's what they do and always have done, all the way back to the start with Hoover.
4) MK-Ultra has been known about for a while now.
5) The CIA doing dodgy stuff? Well I never!

1. No surprise here, but I wouldn't invest money in prison corporations these days. Virginia is actually closing prisons due to lack of prisoners, and we've got a brand new one sitting empty. State budgets are getting slashed, violent crime is down, and corrections is feeling the knife.

2. Again no surprise, this was the obvious outcome to Congress and the FCC selling out the public in 1996.

3. Everyone knows about COINTELPRO, right?

4. People claiming of being probed by aliens have to come from somewhere. ~D

5. The Reichstag fire worked so well... (Godwin!)

1: If only it was the government profiting from the prisons.
2: Shouldnt we only be worrying if it comes down to one company ruling it all?
3: Its like the FBI are run by jerks or something.
4: Dickish behavior in the name of national defense during a cold war with a power that is known for using spies? I'd have been surprised if they didnt do this sort of thing.
5: The US government wasn't willing to kill a bunch of you to start a war and instead planned to do stuff that were damaging but not likely to kill people, from any other country that would be pretty benevolent of the rulers.

1. Shame, really. Never go to prison.
2. Fun, no? Better than one.
3. FBI will do FBI things.
4. CIA will do CIA things.
5. That builds my confidence in my government...
6. I do love me some smoked ham.
7. Bahahaha, shows what you know.

Yeah our government sold out big time... Presidential Campaigns with as much glitz and glamor as their corporate sponsors are willing to donate. All the wealth of nations, and all the sophistication and humbleness of Donald Trump.
