My first small semi professional military force of the newly Independant Bactrian Kingdom, recruited from the Eastern fringes of my small Kingdom (i only have 3 cities, i'm taking it very very slow). They were sent south to apprehend a Syrian General sent to 'pressure' us back to Satrapy. I thought it was quite beautiful, especially the Buddhist wheel on the shields and the standard bearers. I was quite proud to see them marching, as they were my first army recruited for defense of the Kingdom.

Why is "no elephants" under "Suggestions" btw?

I imagine he suggested no elephants because they seem to pop up numerous times in every screenshot thread. There's only so much you can do with an elephant screenshot, and it is almost always just an elephant sending guys flying. Yes, it looks cool, but we've all seen it a million times and it's not very original. It's kind of like a humongous explosion in a movie, yeah it looks cool but we don't really even enjoy it that much anymore, the novelty has worn off after 20-30 years of that kind of special effect being inserted everywhere. Same with elephants. After 3 years of elephant screenshots, let's see something else!

Or if you installed the trivial script there“s an option to do just that.

Cheers.

Well, actually elephant pictures tend to win, which is why they're usually against the rules entirely. ^^

For those of us with limited technical ability how do you do that?

Click the EB Configuration icon on your desktop, click "preferences", and deselect "show banners", or click the "EB Preferences" file in your "Rome -Total War" folder and deselect "show banners". I don't know how to do if you don't have Trivial Script installed though.

The Celtic Viking

By the way, what's the ideal size of the pictures? I've figured my natural 1920x1080 is a little big, but I don't know how much smaller I should make it. For this one I just chose the imagedump default for forum pictures (whatever that was) with the option to get the "real deal", but I don't know how close to optimal that is for this kind of competition.

MaxMazi
06-09-2011, 23:17
In general i'll always go for something at 1400 width (in competitions, not for previews though), so it can be seen full size on most general resolution of 1680x1050 in any forum.
But this forum has a great feature that you all should use. If you insert a direct image link into

...
the forum will auto resize it and then you can click on it to see the full size. Like in my pic done for the EBII Sweboz Preview: (oh, and btw, this is edited, so this is not an example of what kind of pictures we expect from you)
https://img651.imageshack.us/img651/6149/270000.png

We are waiting for more pictures. Great shots so far. Keep them coming!

I hope I am not the only one that sees the need to propose the following.

I propose similar screenshots in the future be set up so that participants would have to send their submissions privately to a collector by a certain date, after which point no further submissions would be accepted, and the entire set would be listed in no particular order.

I am campaigning heavily as the AS against the Romani Marian republic. The sad part is that it only features routing vigiles and groups of elephants, hetairoi and cathaphracts charging through formations... Maybe I'll get a nice shot warding off the Yuezhi invasion?

You are actually playing a campaign where the AI has reached the Marian reforms? Holy macaroni, I would really like to see that! Could you post the campaign map or something in the "Post your EB empires!" thread? I would really appreciate it since I've always tried to help the Romans in my campaigns, but they always get their butts kicked by Lusotannan or Epeiros.

Ok here is my entry, like I said to Stratigos I am not entirely happy with it but after a weeks worth of custom battles it's the best I can come up with.

So here is "The ambush of Ambiorix"

not sure about the image quality, taken from my laptop (with the pathetic resolution and details, dammit, this is one fun moment when my KH expedition on gauls got attacked by a fullstack army of screaming nudists - mostly), could I re-touch it a bit?

If you don't know what it is, the answer is most likely no. Unless I'm mistaken, the question was in reference to the custom-made Roma Surrectum battlemap environments that feature a host of new, user-made tree and grass textures, along with who knows what else (new skymaps probably).

One of my attempts at emulating the death of Pyrrhos. The tricky part is getting the AI to surround Pyrrhos and his Gauls.

I'm not completely satisfied with it, but I figured I might as well enter for once.

My elite phalanx's holding back noble arab infantry whilst on the flanks heavy fighting consists between lighter infantry... covered by slingers and archers throwing everything they have at each other quite a pretty portrait of all out war :)

Oh and just for the record sabean noble infantry pwn .... i had to send reinforcements to hold the line and i had 30+ in my elite phalanx.... ^^
