I know Seon's character is kind of special, but I would appreciate having some sort of choice when it comes to teaming up with her/being able to leave at all. Keeping Alyssa back when there's an army at her heels can be bad for your health...

I am not suggesting a PvP combat unless Seon insists on being a hemlock. Perhaps not even then. I just want to have some sort of control of my character; constraining a character like this is almost worse than injuring/killing it.

It could work. Suggestion: make the dream sequence part of his "healing". Then when he survives dream, wakes up he's justified in being ok.

But an observation- if Irigo perceives Morangul as a threat, and enough of one that Vayne should be worried, then we might definitely have a chance of fighting and beating him. Though the way I would imagine it to progress, is he escapes after wounding Frijyk's pride and drives him to tail him even further.

Anyway @DE and Seon, I don't think that being invisible is going to be a good idea, much less being left unable to interact for 24 hours. So much has happened within the first 2 days or so and I should think that considering the situation and the urgency, any move by Alaria to leave a "parting gift" would be generally ill-received by the duo and perhaps even result in being attacked in the future.

DE, I'll just progress along in general, I'll leave it to Secura/Khaan to determine whether they want to be spotted by the humans.

To be honest I'm kinda thankful, I've come up with writers block.
The problem is that where the runesmith is doing all these things in exchange for Gilford's teleporting horn, the idea being that he can use it to find a way to create teleport runes, teleporting being realy high level magic in this universe, and become rich by being the only guy in the world that can provide teleport service without using a realy experienced archmage. The problem is I cant think of a way to put that in the story, he's not likely to explain what he wants with the horn to a potential competitor and if I just say he's doing all this for free, well, its almost like cheating.
Though, I guess I could have it where he just takes teh horn as payment with no explanation and add "teleporting dwarf" to the 'things we might come back to later' list.

Going from DiY's proposed 48 hours I began thinking what would happen after that as expelling someone from the game is both counter-productive and dumb as long as someone wants to play. This is to be fun for everyone and as long as people have fun I don'T see the point in pushing them out of the game.

So what do you think of the following: Usually it's pretty clear who would be up for talking in a situation. If that person doesn't respond until 48 hours after the last post in their group another player in that group can take up the post where it's been left off and fill in whatever the character of the absent player would do/say trying to stay true to the character as much as possible. OF course the character's creator still has the right to change things later on. This would allow us to move on even if a player can't post for a while. What do you think?

As in preferably as a rough guideline, so that the game can be kept moving. Not a deadline with consequences but a rough guideline that with great preference players should adhere to.

I see no problem about the revised 48-hour rule, of course with the exception that if someone posts here and goes "I'm away from my computer this weekend but please don't reply for my character, I'll be back monday" or something like that, it should be respected. Also, it goes without saying that people should still respect each other's characters. You don't have to post after waiting 48 hours if you're not sure how the other character would act, then just let them have some more time to get the reply in...

Hey there. I'm not out of this game yet, just distracted by the three mafia games I'm trying to follow (2 here, 1 on TW Center). Regarding the irregular activity, I would like to point out that in my personal preference, I'm not very comfortable taking my party in new directions or moving them along via my posts. I prefer to simply react to the situations that TLD or others present me with, whether it be dialog, combat, or some other decision. I really like some of the initiative that other players have taken, though I wish we weren't so fragmented right now in terms of location. I'm very impressed with the extremely open-ended nature of the game you've created, TLD, and I think it's very praiseworthy that you've allowed us to have so much control and influence over your game. :2thumbsup: But as for my own character, I intend to keep him mostly responsive rather than proactive.

Yes, he got the history lesson and he knows a little bit in addition from his own people's legends.

But he has no idea what the Shards of Neril are, because they didn't exist when his people disappeared and Morangul didn't explain that the sword broke. The word "Neril" also probably slipped his mind. You can remind him it was the king's sword and then go into the Shard story.

Like all Lassaran towns it is ruled by a noble family, in this case it's a relatively "new" house as about two centuries ago one of the sons of Lord Katar of Epayl Nir has taken a group of settlers there and founded his own town. It has grown fast because of a large amount of minerals in the mountains so it's a mining town. Apart from that you're free to invent :yes:

Are we to do a day-by-day commentary on the travels between towns?
For the most part, I would think that it would be uneventful....

Of course, saying "x amount of days passed during their travels"
isn't that great either.
Plus, it would place our characters some time ahead of everyone else.

Of course, I could just have Morangul cast some sort of spell that
speeds up the travel immensely, such as a magic carpet (tacky, I know)
or some other means of magical transportation.
I wouldn't use teleportation though.

Right now we are slightly behind, as we are on night 2 while the rest are in day 3. So we spend day 3 getting back to the road, and then we'll worry about it.

I'm back and I've got afew points I'd like to discuss, namely magic; There are three things I'd like to figure out.
Firstly, scrying, in this world morangul has already established you can magically observe distant places and people, what's stopping boreal or vayn from going to a crystal ball and telling it to show them the location of the princess?
Secondly, we've got teleportation in this world, what sort of ranges can you go, are there some locations we cant go?
Finaly, We have gods, I was thinking we would just go with the Dungeon and dragon's pantheon plus whoever TLD wants to add, anyone have a problem with that idea?

But as for Greyblades' questions:

1) I'd say you'd have to be pretty powerful for scrying which Morangul is. Definitely the villains would be powerful enough but let's just keep it the way Morangul did it. He didn't tell his bowl to look at a certain person, just an area (the capital city) - so scrying is rather limited, you can't just stallite track someone
2) Well you brought teleportation in and as with scrying I'd limit it very much. Range should be very limited and it should get more and more inaccurate the farther you want to teleport.
3) Gods will be very important, not necessarily playing a very active part but for the backstory. The Lassarans still worship the gods they have worshipped before they arrived on the island now known as Cantun. I'll update the OP with a section on their pantheon today or tomorrow. All those that have created their own races (like B_Ray) can of course create their own gods that their races believe in or whatever religious system they might want them to have.

To be honest I'm just waiting for Secura to post an update, although I admit I haven't been following the storyline in the meantime.

Anyway, not sure if we want to stick together or split up but I guess meeting everyone wouldn't be such a bad idea. My plan was still to learn from the servant of the old man the general direction that Alyssa and Guantano have taken to follow them.

Well since khaan wanted to be active and Secura will be inactive for a while it would probably be better if she just tells him to get lost (in a very elven nice way of course :tongue: ) and disappears into the woods. khaans character is then free to go with you or to whomever he wants. That way we can bring Tah back later, whenever Secura's got more time :yes:

I'm going to be out to town, starting this evening, for the next four days, so please feel free to do whatever you need to with my character to keep things rolling. It sounds good, just I'd like to hear khaans opinion. He sounded like he was ready to still play, esp since Netherworld is wrapping up and since Secura will still be out for a while it would be nice to tag him along with somebody else. I'd like to get the characters togehter to get them "on the same page" sort of... Then everyone can split up again, which is probably the way to go anyway, for searching the shards. I'll eliminate my two guardsmen soon so we're down to real player characters and NPCs and can then see where that leads us.

What's important is to advance you guys in time, so that the others can actually catch up with you :yes:

Aww, that's a real shame B_Ray :disappointed: I've really enjoyed reading of Glungard's exploits from the very moment you churned out his character role card! Understandably you're travelling with the princess' group which is rather fast paced thanks to TLD's spamliciousness excess of creativity juices (:clown:) but actually I find the general silence of your character to be fairly suitable! (I don't imagine Glungard to be the chatty type). Perhaps you could arrange to come back later like Secura?

If you really decide to leave the narrative though, then I'd just like to say that its likewise been a pleasure and an enjoyment to have been reading the fruits of your labors :bow: and quite understandably, RL always comes first.

Then one of them could mention the elves, and we go look for them, only finding khaan's character, with Secura's character disappearing into the wilderness.

Well for starters we haven't entered day 3 yet. I'm almost done with another update, then DE can "wake up" and life can carry on.

Presumably we would meet you when we are leaving the forest and (I'm guessing) head for the southern road again, though the wisdom in that may be questionable following their attack and the IC response might need to be changed to heading west.

Hmm just call it as a raiding band of demons that Vayne (sp?) has sent to check out and scout for information, perhaps an adventurer hunting squad if you will. Or if its more convenient then yes, do call it a band of demons out of control :tongue:

Demons just made more sense to me because its hard to find a big group of renegade soldiers too far away from the main pack :wink:

She doesn't like otherworldly entities. As much as Morangul is evil walking skeleton of doom, he is still from *this world,* and thus she detects it as something *natural*. Doesn't matter how strong he feels etherically. She saw beings stronger than him before in the forest she came from. Lassa and the demons are something that she had never experienced or even heard about before.

That, or she's a psychopath who feels drawn to other psychopaths like Morangul. Or maybe she counted Morangul as not being a "normal human" due to his immense magical power and didn't care about it. Maybe she doesn;t like the fact that the princess suddenly has an odd "smell" about her.

Or maybe she's just getting... smarter :rolleyes:

But being able to control a magical construct,

The fact that your hand was created with
magics originating in necromancy just makes it easier.

Uh, the magic of runes does not have very much in common with necromancy. Hmm what's a good analogy... ok, the bones aren't reanimated, it's more like a bunch of invisible puppet strings have been strung between the runes etched into the hand bones and the runes that were etched into thomas' skull.

Edit: I guess you could mess with them somewhat but seeing as the connection between the runes will most likely stronger that what you could produce (seeing as you are afew thousand miles away) if Thomas concentrated on keeping the hand still all morangul could do is make it twitch slightly.

SOrry that it tool me so long to answer as well. I'm not abandoning this game, I just have a very tight schedule at the moment with a lot to study, which is why I hesitate to host the mafia game I have put in the queue as well. This should all get better after December 15th ^^

Heh apology accepted, I must apologize for my tone, I haven't really had much to do recently so I tried to learn how to use photoshop and illustrator, unfortunately I found out that after the third failure to remember to save in case of accidental X clicking I was a little testy. Its not an excuse and I'm sorry.

Seon, what sort of things should we expect your character to try and do while she's posessed/peeved off?

She may make the stairs disappear. It wouldn't be simple invisibility. It would actually convince your brain that there actually are no stairs there. You may be STANDING on said stairs and still not notice that it is there. It would look and feel as if you are standing on a flat surface.

She may also make you become lost in your own room, unable to navigate it. You will be able to see the doors out of it, but you suddenly won't know how to get to it. You would walk around the stool to suddenly discover that there is no stool anymore.

Basically, Fey illusions are beyond conjuring up images. It's tricking the minds of people around them to see something that isn't actually there. No two people would see exactly the same thing. An unaffected person wouldn't see anything unusual aside from people walking up and down the stairs, demanding where the stairs are, or a person clambering around the room.
