We've just upgraded the forum software to the latest version. Please report any issues here.

Don't know the right terminology for it, so I figured I'd just put it in screenshot form.

-edit- I guess I'm trying to say that it should be on the same line.

Can't replicate that behaviour on Firefox, Chrome, Safari or IE8. The upgrade has installed a brand new editor, which may require you to reload some scripts. Try emptying your browser cache, close all browser windows and see if that helps.

Heh, I have a habit of leaving Chrome open for weeks at a time. I'll finish up what I'm doing and get back to you.

Nope, same issue after emptying the cache and restarting Chrome. Happily, I can now activate the bold, etc. tags just by pressing Ctrl-B, which I consider a good trade.

What happened to the smilies? There's only 15 to choose from, now...?

What happened to the smilies? There's only 15 to choose from, now...?They are all still there. Only 15 smilies are shown by default on the quick reply editor though. This has been submitted as a bug to the developers, so hopefully they'll sort it out in due course. In the meantime, you can get the whole list by clicking the [More] link on the RHS of the advanced reply box.

I'm having some problems in that a file keeps trying to download itself onto my computer each time I open a new page in the forum. It's called afr.php and it's from delivery.sids-ads.com
I was having what looked like script issue (unable to enter text in this box for example) but a reboot seems to have fixed that.
The file thing is really annoying though...is it software related or just an annoying ad?

Would seem to be an annoying ad (there's no afr.php on the server).
Edit: Seems to be a common problem: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1762675

They are all still there. Just go to the advanced editor, they're all on the right side as usual. The 'smiley' icon on the editor nav bar is the one that doesn't display them all. We'll fix this as soon as one is available, but until then just use the old list in the advanced editor.

What ad is showing up when this happens? We can have the ad removed.

I can't see or hear any ad, maybe the abortive download is the ad trying to run? It happens on every page of the org.

Can you track the full URL it is coming from? I have disabled adblock and I'm not getting anything like that, so I can't track the problem myself.
Read some sites indicating that clearing your browser cache might help solve the problem. Give that a try.

Any idea how to do that?
I cleared my cache but it's no good.
Nevermind, I just noticed that you already said it's coming from delivery.sids-ads.com. That's probably enough to report it. I'll try and get it removed. I'm not sure why it's showing up for you and not others, but in the meantime I highly recommend Firefox + AdBlock. That should take care of the problem.

Cheers! That's what I use at home but here at work I have no control and am forced to use IE with something called McAfee...
Odd. Anyone else having this problem? [words breaking between lines]
Yes, this is happening to me both on Chrome and Opera. I don't think it has any effect on the post itself though.

Hmmm... what versions of those browsers are you running?
On the plus side, it looks like the upgrade has improved performance. It used to take forever to go from a sub-fora back to the main forum page (using the Back button), it looked like it was reloading just about everything. Now the back button is quick and easy. :2thumbsup:

Good job on the update guys! :2thumbsup:
I've noticed when I type posts sometimes it says "auto-saved". How does that work?

It backs up everything you type every 30 seconds. If you crash, or the server goes down, or you lose your post in some other manner, all you have to do is go back to the same thread and hit reply again. At the bottom left of the reply box you will see a "Restore Auto-Save" button. Click that, and all the saved text will reappear in the text box. You can test this by typing something, waiting for it to auto-save, then closing the window/tab without submitting the post. Then go back and hit reply to that same thread, and you'll see the button appear. Like this... (At this point, I closed the tab without submitting the post).
After closing this tab without submitting my post, I went back to this thread and the reply box looked like this:
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/images/save1.jpg
I clicked the button, and then saw this:
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/images/save2.jpg
I then finished the post, and submitted it.

I noticed that there is no button for Spoilers. I mean, I must type the spoiler tags myself while before I could just use button.

We've changed some of the icons: the spoiler tag button is a ! in a red circle.
Yeah, sorry I didn't announce that. I had to do some bbcode icon changes anyway to get them to work with the new editor. Since the SPOIL icon has always been extremely confusing (it was a duplicate of the Bold icon for reasons I have never understood), I thought it would be good to make it unique. The various icons that say "Spoil" in some fashion all look bad at 16x16, so I went with a the red exclamation mark button https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/images/editor/exclamation-red.png as it seemed to convey the proper idea in a more attractive fashion. I also added an icon for the EX tag as well, which I think is a vastly underused bbcode due to the fact that it's never had an icon. It works the same as SPOIL, but is just for hiding extra long text instead of true spoilers. The icon for it on the new editor is https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/images/editor/zone--plus.png, and it works like this:
This is hidden text.
You may find it useful for all those times you use the SPOIL code to hide stuff that isn't actually a spoiler.

I'm unable to post pictures that aren't thumbnails.

The new image link button on the editor has a lot more features than the old one, and you're picking one you don't want. When you click the Image button there will be two tabs, From Computer and From URL.
From Computer is really just an easier way to use the old Attachment system (which is still available via the old interface at the bottom of the Advanced Post screen). You upload a file from your personal computer and it is hosted on the Org. Attachments are displayed in posts as thumbnails, so if you use this method, you will get thumbnails.
From URL has is the new version of the old IMG code system, but it's a bit fancier. You enter the URL of the image and it inserts it into your post like normal. However, there's an extra check box on the From URL screen, and that's the new fancy feature. With the Retrieve remote file and reference locally option enabled, the forums actually download the remote image and make it a locally hosted attachment. This ensures that if the image disappears off of whatever site it's currently hosted on, it will not be lost from your post. However, note that doing this makes it an attachment, just like with the From Computer/Attachment option. Thus, it displays as a thumbnail. In order to get the image to not be a thumbnail, you need to uncheck the box next to Retrieve remote file and reference locally. That will not make it a thumbnail and will instead display it in the old IMG code fashion.
Note that if you upload an image as an attachment with either method, you can remove it via the Manage Attachments option at the bottom of the Edit Post screen.
