For some reason I cant post on the forums. I get a tan box (Im using the guild skin) whenever I try to post, and I cant edit either, regardless of the browser.
Is it a problem on my end or the forums?
It was working fine a few hours ago.
Nothing was changed with respect to the post/editing system over the time span you indicated. However, the new 'advanced' editor does run on javascript so if it's simply not showing up perhaps you have disabled javascript or otherwise made another change to prevent it from running.
I'm seeing this as well. Firefox/NoScript. I get a writable edit box when I disallow googleapis, but then of course the editor buttons disappear/don't work. When I allow googleapis, the edit box is non-functional.
Edit-> this is as of today, it was working fine yesterday after the main upgrade.
Can you both double-check the time frame for this issue? There is a bug with the current editor that makes the custom bbcode (i.e SPOIL, etc.) buttons not work properly. I installed a fix for this system which involved switching from compressed javascript to uncompressed javascript. However, I made that change at about 8pm EST on Monday. Both of you say it worked fine yesterday, which would indicate the problem started after my fix, not at the time I installed it. Are you sure about that?
The last post I made prior to seeing this problem was 14:33 EST yesterday. This was done at work (where I am now), I do not know if I would see this problem from home.
What browser versions are you using?

Check the error consoles, maybe something is throwing up errors there. In the meantime you might want to disable the advanced editor in the account preferences and go for the standard with trusty bbulletin codes.
Firefox 3.6.13
Does the text editor on this page (http://ckeditor.com/demo) work for you? (Note: Adblock must be disabled for it to work there.)
No. With both ckeditor and cksource enabled in NoScript.
No. With both ckeditor and cksource enabled in NoScript.
Then you are almost certainly having some kind of browser-issue with javascript. Try upgrading your browser (Firefox is on version 5) or if you prefer your current version, try reinstalling it.
The error console returns this:
Error: uncaught exception: [CKEDITOR.resourceManager.load] Resource name "clipboard" was not found at "https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/clientscript/ckeditor/_source/plugins/clipboard/plugin.js".
when googleapis is enabled in NoScript and the Org editor brought up.
Upgrading this particular browser on this particular computer is no longer an option.

It seems I can post with IE, latest version.
Still cant post with Chrome, even updated Java.
No idea which version of Chrome I have, Ill assume the latest.
I also switched to the basic type of editor, still wouldnt work.

Could you try again now?
Could you try again now?
His response:
can no longer write posts or PMs with the last editor change. still getting error:
Error: uncaught exception: [CKEDITOR.resourceManager.load] Resource name "clipboard" was not found at "https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/clientscript/ckeditor/_source/plugins/clipboard/plugin.js".
drone is in read-only mode aside from reporting posts
Can you post now? If not, use report post again to say so.
Back now after switching styles back and forth. googleapis still a no-go.

Does the full editor work, or only something partial?
With googleapis enabled in NoScript, the editor box is blank, no style tag buttons.
With googlapis disabled, I can type as normal, but there are no style tag buttons.
Hooahguy, try changing to a different skin and changing back. See if that helps.

Test.
-edit- Phew, no problems for this Chrome user.
Have you guys tried clearing both your cache and your cookies?
Have you guys tried clearing both your cache and your cookies?
Yes, I tried this the first time around this morning. Closed Firefox (which clears cookies and cache).
For testing purposes, I installed No Script on my browser. This completely disabled the new editor box in a fashion that mimics what was described here. Whitelisting the Org solved the problem.
Regardless, this is clearly a specific issue with how individual users' browsers are configured and how they are interacting with the new editor. I'm not really sure what else can be done about this from the Org's side. If you can't fix this by upgrading/reinstalling your browser or by disabling whatever noscript-style addons you've got running, my recommendation would be to change over to the Basic Editor in the General Settings (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editoptions) Message Editor Interface option.

Clearing the Cache/cookies worked for me.
Yay, problem solved. Though I do want to know how this happened. It was so random.
On my home PC now, everything seems normal. Firefox 3.6.18, NoScript. So I'm guessing it's either the slightly older revision of Firefox or the firewall at work. I'll fiddle with it tomorrow to see what I can find out.

Well, the problem came back.
Darn.
Using the lightweight mode now.
EDIT: and now the problem is gone. This is getting annoying.

Right so same thing here as with Hooah..... switched to lightweight to post this. I'm not really willing to stick with lightweight...... it seems light. Any known fix yet or even the cause? I am using Chrome as well and certainly am not desirous to use another browser especially..... *shudder* IE.

Does the text editor on this page (http://ckeditor.com/demo) work for you? If it doesn't load at first, try refreshing and disabling stuff like adblock and noscript.
For all Chrome users, we have made a setting change to the server that might help with your problems, though we're not sure. Please try everything, including cache clearing, and let us know if that has changed anything.

ok i am here to say it does work!
I changed absolutely nothing (stubborn angry little SOB i am)
and all of a sudden it works as of about 5 minutes ago. 1hour ago it did not work however.
also from the very beginning of when i had this problem the text editor did work for me no problems.
I can't post in Opera. The reply box is just totally white. I'm posting this in Firefox.

I'm pretty sure this, and most of the other problems mention in this thread, are caused by the browser not properly loading javascript (which is what runs the new editor). Update your browser, clear your cache, and disable any noscript addons you're running. If all else fails, switch to the basic editor in your profile settings.
Browser is fully up-to-date. Reinstalled javascript. Emptied cache. Set posting mode to basic. No dice.

Hold up. I think it was my content blocker. All good now. :)

From what I can tell, it comes from updating Java.

Still no luck for me. Not working in chrome at all. My iPod is the only thing I can comfortably post on, but I don't have wireless net during the week.
I've tried updating java, but that isn't working :(

Is it all browsers or just chrome?

Using Win7 and chrome, and even with Java updated, it works fine for me, no problems.
