Hey guys,

Is there any way to get these two people to marry?

https://img263.imageshack.us/img263/7083/rometw2011062721574236.jpg

I keep getting offered potential suitors for her and I've rejected them all beacuse this adopted general is awesome and I want him to have children in that family bracket, not the one he is currently in!

I'm doubting it'll occur naturally (i.e. after a few more turns) but can it be done by editing some files? I have no experience in anything like that so if anyone can help that'd be grand!

Thanks!

I can't offer any advice on how to get the two of them to marry I would just say that considering they are first cousins any children they have may have some negative physical traits.... although saying that in my ongoing Carthaginian campaign my best general (who near single handedly conquered Italy) had the epiphet "The Lame" and a -20% movement trait but stick that boy on a horse and watch him crush flanks.

People from the family tree can't marry each other. I'm not sure what you mean by "I want him to have children in this family tree", though. Since he is a member of your family all his children will be part of the family tree anyway (regardless wether he is adopted or not).

Ah whoops I should have specified, good find btw. He was a candidate for adoption, so there will be no consanguinity from thier union! You can kind of see his younger step brother next to him.

EDIT:

Yes your right, I wasn't too clear. Basically I want him to marry her as he was an adopted son in that family bracket. Family tree is what he is currently in (and what I incorrectly made refence to).

I edited the OP, thanks.

Ah... that explains it. I was wondering how he managed to outgrow his brother.

Consanguinity, I like this word, I will use it in conversation more often.

It came up in one of our diagnosis cases. Use it, it's a nicer way of saying inbreeding ;-)

To clear that up: Consanguinity doesn't equal inbreeding, it rather describes the pre-existing blood relationship between two people which constitutes inbreeding if they produce offspring.

Generally based on the shared grandparent rule.

Anyways, if anyone has any solutions to the OP, would be great!

I don't think there is anything you can do, if this was M2YW you could marry them but I'm pretty sure nothing like that can happen in RTW.

I see I see. How likely will the chance be of he getting his own wife from somewhere instead? Can that be edited in?

He should get married himself, I don't think there's any way to speed it up unfortunately.

Spot on. He married 14 turns later. He was 39...she was 12...

Actually very historically accurate.

Aristotle mentioned that "the best age for a man to marry is 48, and for a woman, 18", I think.

Not my cup of tea, if I ever marry I would rather my wife was of a comparable age to me, I don't want one of us dying years before the other due to old age.

How many years difference was there between Pompey the Great and Julia? If you want a happy marriage then you can do alot worse than look at Seleucus Nicator and his first wife.

(offcource your statement is correct that it was quite common for men way beyond their 30ies to marry Girls that have just had their first ovulation. i just wanted to point out that Aristotle(albeit being a smart chap) said a lot of crap stuff that has been proven wrong)

Interesting, how old were they and their wives?

and in M2TW, at least in SS and BC, everytime you do this, their children is a bit likely to get inbreed traits :D you can make your FM do some really naughty things to their own sisters, well, but their son will get "spawn of incest" trait

According to my calculations and information from Wikipedia (neither too reliable but here goes) Pompey was 47 and Julia was 24 when they married. Not sure if there was a substantial age difference between Seleucus Nicator and Apama I just like the fact that Seleucus loved her enough to make her his queen and legitimize their illegitimate child (Antiochus I) as the heir to the Seluecid throne (she had originally been his mistress). Also the fact that Seleucus was one of the few Macedonians to keep his Persian wife after the marriages at Susa.

Ah well there you go, cheers. In fairness 47-24 is bad, but I was imagining something similar to my Roma campaign, thankfully not.

don't know about that...wasn't there a guy who was loony enough to get the Faction leader in one game to marry himself? I remember he did it by mucking around with the traits or savegame or sth.

Wow that's insane. I'd imagine that'd really screw his game up at some point?

not to my knowledge.

I'm going by memory, and I could have confused one breakthrough with it :shrug:/
