Greetings fellow EB multiplayers!
Since we are unable to play 2v2 matches for the official tourney, I am starting this thread up to hopefully get a small tournament going for 2v2 matches in July. I've heard multiple times how much everyone would like for these matches to count.
Please signup if you would like to participate, I'm thinking of letting everyone pick 2 factions that they can alternate between as to spice things up a little bit. Keep in mind, these rules are not official as of today. I want to hear your feedback so we can streamline this tournament as much as possible.
Right now, for scoring I am thinking of a point system similar to what we have in 1v1 now. However, towards the end of the month, there is a final match facing the 1st and 3rd seed against the 2nd and 4th for the championship. What do you guys think about that?
Well gg2 wont be available so that rules me out of this :/
I think it is a wonderful idea Robin. Thank you for this, I think many would like it. Sorry about the 2v2 situation; I'm sure it will make a comeback (=

FWIW, if this somehow gets going, you can count me in. If you need me to just let me know and I'll start hassling LMT with his draft papers as soon as tomorrow; that boy owes me. ~;p

Well, no one has proposed any rules or such that are contrary to what I originally proposed. I would love to start this up IF you guys are ok with what I listed in the first post.
Also, would you guys want set teammates or rather a play with anyone approach? I think the latter works better but I'll leave this up to the jury to decide.

Yeah, I agree with that as well. Set teams would be easier to keep score for, but a free approach allows both for buddies to team up and keep together throughout the tourney if they want to, as well as minimize the impact of the different time zones.
I agree, we should use the old point system and team up with anybody.

Ok, one last thing then. Should players be limited to one or two factions? Or simply play as whoever they like? The one rule I would institute is that two teammates cannot go steppe as that would cause for very long team battles methinks. One steppe per team.
Id say we pick any faction we want, 2v2 should be more flexible and fun.

Its not too bad. It should be decided fairly quickly if both players maxed on kata. :p

Ok, if factions don't need to be picked, then no official signups are required and the tournament is officially begun. Consider all the rules the same as any other tournament in terms of unit limits and such. Also, please post your victories here as you normally would for any other tourney. Only one member of the winning team needs to post and I will keep a running tally on the top post. Thank you and good luck to all players!

Actually dual civ vs dual steppe is crazy because civ will have enough infantry to clog up the whole map.
Sensible people do not play huge scale. Sensible Steppe have Kataphractoi which shred the crappy infantry even from the front.

i'm in as well. just one questiotn,can anyone be kind enough to post a list of the rules used in 2v2. I mean can one person bring all inf while the other brings all cav etc.
Same rules as the 1v1 tourney.

I dont think sso, if thats true then we need some 2v2 rules. because 2v2 and 1v1 are 2 completely different gameplay experiences.

We can debate rules for following months. For now the current rules for 1v1 are what will be used. For this month I won't limit amount of SAC per team. We'll see how that goes and move from there for August.
Also, the tourney has begun so feel free to start.

I know I won't be playing but just wanted to input that locked teams means you can't play a tourney battle unless you're partner is online, an obvious limitation. Cheers.

Yes, no one is teamed with anyone permanently. If we did, we'd probably only get about 3 games in all month. Play with whomever you like.

LMT this is the 2v2 Tournament thread for July. Are you really asking if the 2v2 Tournament for August will include team battles? or did you mean to post this in a different thread?

Did you seriously not understand my post? I was simply making fun of you. You are asking if a TWO VERSUS TWO TOURNAMENT includes TEAM battles. What do you think TWO PLAYERS ON THE SAME SIDE MAKE? That's right. A TEAM!
So how can a 2v2 Tournament NOT have team battles? Team battles is ALL it has! And nothing is impossible. From what I understand, the 2v2 tournament is on-going.

Hardly. Every time I play in one and ask if we can count it towards the tourney everyone complains and says they just want it to be for fun. And yet last month, everyone complained that 2v2 don't count towards tourney. :/ I think people are a little too picky about their teammates sometimes in all honesty.
This isn't even locked teams. People shouldn't be allowed to play with the same partner more than a certain number of times. It's the only way I know of to enforce/make people play with others. Same for 1v1, making people only able to beat others a certain amount of times as to discourage Japanese sumo wrestling-style corrupt setups.
