The last time I went to Manitoba I got so covered in red ticks, you could have used me as part of the maple leaf in the living flag and I wouldn't have even needed a crimson blazer!

I was at the festivities put on by the Canadian Consulate here in Munich yesterday. And a fun time was had by all, until the rain started. Coincidentally it coincided with the time the US Consulate’s picnic was to begin. :laugh4:

War of 1812 showed that that was a BAD IDEA.:canada:

I wonder what people would say if he went downtown and said that....I guess the more happy-go-lucky people would laugh(We like to be nice) to the more, giving you the :daisy: and chanting "Go Jets Go"(It's a Winnipeg thing).

yeah, both sides claiming victory and such, too bad, (a) there's napoleon in Europe, if not, north america will be back under the crown of England. (b) USA lacks resolve and courage, why not press on when they've the advantage just for the sake of public opinion, if not, USA will encompass entire north america, or better.

They have been trying to Annex us since the "Manifest destiny" policy. War, Free trade, influence etc.

The fact that we survived it all independent, is nothing less then a miracle.

Edit: Your forgetting that they started that war to begin with....they never achieved there war goal's. So I count it as loss of face by saying they won.

Looks like I am going to need to pull out my text book for this.....
The Canada Act 1982 (1982 c. 11) is an Act of Parliament passed by the British Parliament that ended all remaining dependence of Canada on the United Kingdom, by a process known as "patriation." It includes the text of the Constitution Act, 1982, in both of Canada's official languages, in Schedule B, and a translation of the main body into French in Schedule A, making it the first British Act of Parliament since the Middle Ages to be passed in the French language.

Edit: Quite free here...more so then USA even, so I don't see how we are under the Monarchy???

Get drunk! That's what I did, lol. I save the special suppers and shirts+ties for National Aboriginal Day. Canada Day has to be satisfied with a night I can barely remember.
