An idea of mine that will hopefully spin out of my control and end up ruling the universe, or at least become a staple of The Arena (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?46-The-Arena).
Something that hit my radar less than a half hour ago and I've already updated all my mailing list to keep an eye on this game. Yes it looks like a mutated Minecraft clone, but even Notch has shown interest in this (http://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/92983768306024449). I've got a feeling this will catch on with the same power that Minecraft did when it first came out. I only know one or two people who played MC during its "classic" days but countless souls, including mine, lost during its first weeks of Infdev and Alpha stages. Now its the standard for all mining/crafting games out there, you compare everything to MineCraft. Kinda like what crysis was for how good your computer was, anyone remember those days?
Anyways, here it is:
Lords of Uberdark (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/901026204/lords-of-uberdark-3d-voxel-based-mining-building-g)

Lords of Uberdark (tentative title) is a 3D mining & building game that I'm currently writing, much like Infiniminer and its more prominent cousins. It's still in an early stage of development (pre alpha), but already has most of the core functionality and a handful of features that set it apart -- especially smooth terrain and cartoon-style rendering. It also does nice texture blending, animated water, raytraced lighting, random terrain generation, ore veins, and a bunch of other stuff.
