Naginata HC: Rule or Drool?

In the current game, naginata and heavy cavalry have the same armor ratings, right? So what is the point of naginata cavalry supposed to be in the expansion? I suppose they'll be more mobile, but won't work as well as missle fire absorbers because missle fire hits mounted units so much easier than ground units. So doesn't that kind of cancel out their most basic purpose?

Personally, I would have much rather seen No-Dachi Cavalry or an entirely new mounted unit rather than a mounted version of the current ones.

Well monks use the Naginata as there weapon so it can be used for attacking. There is quite a long thread in the history forum on this unit regarding the relevance of this unit you may want to check it out.

Here's one of the many Nagi Cavalry threads (http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000109.html).

In a nutshell, they will be quite unlike the "foot" naginata. They are best comparable to HC, but are slower, less well armored, but have a higher attack value. If this were an ideal world, they would be the paper-scissors-stone match of the WM, able to defeat them in direct HtH combat, but whether this dream is ever realized remains to be seen.

Kimodo dragons?! They unbalance the game. I mean, they cost less than heavy cavalry and can defeat warrior monks AND heavy cavalry. Why get anything else? I think from now on people will only use kimodo dragons and muskets. That will suck! We must up the price on kimodo dragons. I am protesting kimodo dragons! (Fills up 16 slots with kimodo dragons). Unfair? What? More than five of a unit is considered weak? So what, I beat you kande *ss.
