Greeting everyone.:bow:

My name is Valkar, aka Davyjones on TWC (visit me).
I am the co-leader of this project, Historical Rome Total War. Its a Historical vanilla based mod, full of reskins and codes to provide more historical accuracy, while keeping the vanilla feel that has much for so many players, who can't get on with a mod that has a complete other feeling.
Our Goal is now to reach the alpha status release, that contains only reskins for custom battles with a new battle system.
The Beta will contain a lot more, and will go for a higher aim.

What are we going to do excactly?
Well, we are making rome tw more correct, by editing just the thing that makes RomeTW historical uncorrect, like removing the arcani, druids, wardogs and all the egyptian units. The Egyptians will be correctly transformed into the ptolemaic kingdom, and thrace will be the Kingdom of Lysimachus instead, a Hellenic tracian succesor society, with greek main units with lots of AOR.
The Britons will lose terretory + some units, while gaining more correct ones. The Germanic's will lose some of their territory, and some units, like chosen archers and noble cavalry. They get archer warband, who are renamed to 'hunters' and many of their units will be reskinned so they receive a more diverse army, instead of all those blonde chaps with dark red pants.


As this project could last as long as we would, we seek some fellow humans who would like to join our cause to help finish our ideas, and realise them. We particulary need researchers and coders, but skinners and modellers and others are also welcome.

As this is the discussionsthread, please discuss our mod. We love to get feedback by the community, even critics are welcome, because we need advice.
Here is also the place to Propose some thing for our mod, some ideas or other stuff that might fit for us.

lets not totally change the germans until beta.. also so you think we should keep thrace hellenic? so greek looking strat models? and as far as territory for alpha every factions territory has "expanded" just for some gameplay reasons.. (there is only one rebel settlement) so the germans and gauls have alot of territory.. however this will dramatically change with beta

Thats a good idea. I suggest multiple campaigns: A Fast one (like the alpha camp) and the Vanilla (untouched regions) and Expanded (More Regions, AOR, maybe Mundus_magnus or IceTorc)

Maybe a general resize of the campaign vanilla map (somewhat bigger) for more region space wouldn't be bad at all.

thats exactly what i had in mind.. i dont wanna expand because then you will have the Parthian/Bactrian/Indian problem

Why?
We coud just put rebels in there.

It costs to much units. Our mod does focus more on Rome then Asia.

ya.. if there were faction slots i would say go for it but there isnt.. besides that project will be for Roma Nova which is a long way from now

Here are two of Skulls units for the Bosporan Kingdom.. remember skull, we need to swap the colors

however they look god for alpha (except the color swap haha)

also macedon1an has given me screens from the AUP from Heaven Games.. there are some good units in there.. should i post the screens to discuss? also once we reskin the generals/captians for both the strat and battle maps we can officially change the cultures of the factions

A question about gameplay:

How are we going to change it? I mean as in which units do we make weaker? Which units become stronger?

At the moment we don´t change much balancing. The Alpha is nearly done and maybe we tweak it a little before we release, but no great balancing projects (at least I wasn´t informed of any).
That would be something for the beta.
