First the 4th of July Fireworks, now this (http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/126825018.html). Is this sensationalism in journalism, and there really isn't any race relation issues? Are there race issues causing some problems? If so, what's at the root of it?
Sorry, but it sounds like Watts in 1968 out there to the unknowning outside.
News to me -- and West Allis is only 20 minutes from my home. Googled some other news reports, Reuters and the Chicago Tribune talk about "reports of youths," which is probably newsman euphemism-speak for "race riot."
Looks like they're tightening security at the fair. If this is, in fact, a case of black-on-white hate crime, I wonder if any mainstream police, politico or journo will dare call it what it is?
-edit-
A lot of anecdotal, unconfirmed stuff is circulating. I would caution anyone against deciding they know what's going on. Quite a few of the stories I'm reading have a "Cannibal Holocaust During Hurricane Katrina" feel to them. Not doubting that some bad **** is going down, but I'd like to hear a level-headed assessment. (Which is made maddeningly hard to get since everybody is afraid to call black-on-white violence what it is.)
There are black people in Wisconsin?

ahh, must be a hard day when your child get a birthday
Here's a pretty full reporting (http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/126828998.html)on the incident and the aftermath. Sounds really, really ugly. Also looks like there were jurisdictional hang-ups that made security more difficult than it should have been: "The Wisconsin State Fair is in different jurisdictions. The north side of the fairgrounds, from the Hank Aaron State Trail north, is in Milwaukee. The rest is in West Allis. Adding to the confusion is that the Wisconsin State Fair Park police have jurisdiction only on the fairgrounds, not outside of it."
Yikes.

If the violence crosses state lines or involves cell phone calls across state lines to coordinate the violence does that become Federal or State Police?
