A freak storm resulted in collapsing tents at Pukkelpop. To think that this is y favorite music festival, one I attended numerous times.
The footage on the internet is just frightening. Thank god there was no major panic or there could've been another Roskilde.

Just read it, nasty. Bad luck for festivals it seems, first that horrible accident with our American mucas and now this , meh. Pukkelpop is great, Belgium usually isn't the most welcomming of places if you are Dutch but people have always been really nice there

Definitely not the best of summer's, this one.
Pukkelpop is great, Belgium usually isn't the most welcomming of places if you are Dutch but people have always been really nice there
Never had that problem. Then again, people in Liège were impressed with my French (!) so maybe if you just say “bonjour” they'll love you instantly?
What makes you think that I don't speak French. But me and the Flemish, we don't get along. No matter how polite you are you keep recieving paper cuts. The Flemish really really reallyyyy dislike us

Not thinking anything about your language skills. Just threw something out at random, something that worked fine for me. :shrug:

Maybe they don't like being called gutmensch when they propose more EU integration? :grin:

The Flemish are great, if only because they like me. They invite me to their discussions all the time, the accompanying food is always great, the atmosphere always relaxed.
I think it helps if you're just nice to them, preferably polite, and wear a tie. Some European countries are still quite civilised.

I am always nice and polite. I never have a problem interacting I am a social tiger, but these guys just don't apreciate your company

Quite silly really but it's something we grow up with. I still hear quotes like "if you aren't being :daisy: over by a Dutchie, he must've forgot" every week. I blame Willem van Oranje.
Casaulties so far: 5 dead, 10 heavily wounded (of witch 3 are fighting for their lives) and 140 with 'minor' wounded.
There's a lot of praise for locals who helped any way they could and for the youths themselves who behaved mostly calm. Also an interesting role from social network sites that filled in when the mobile phone networks went down due to to much traffic. Facebook and twitter were apparently the tools to signal loved ones and the start of some initiatives to help.

Well we are kinda guilty of that ourselves as well, and we are also guilty of usually meeting the expectations that comes with the stereotype. The Dutch are vulgar and arrogant on Flemish soil no way to deny it, so much that I gotten the compliment of not being vulgar and arrogant numerous times.

Same here. Particularly in Antwerp we haven't exactly conquered hearts and minds, have we? Can't blame the Flemish for that, they're fine.

It's not the only reason I don't get along with them, they are also boring. They invented it, I have no idea how it could possibly be more of an outright assassination on humanity the world and surroundings, THAT boring. The place is dead or at least dying, the Flemish are as interesting as an individual as an extra layer of colour is to toothpaste.
