Playing Romani again
RTW.exe, EB 1.2, M/M, vanilla sea mod, darth's formations mod, no giant trees mod, phalanx mod
This is the 2nd or 3rd time in about 3 years of playing that I have had exceptionally balanced expansion by all groups, and also where the armies are well-balanced and the AI thinks about where its going to strike/garrison to attempt to win and defend at the same time.
I've had about 5 naval reinforcements from Carthage with levies, professionals, and even a group of elephants! as I took the mediterranean islands, plus a naval invasion at Taras from the Epirotes after I'd taken it back at the beginning of the game.
Between the 1st and 2nd Punic Wars, Carthage succesfully took the south east portion of Iberia and subjugated the Lusotannan to client status without completely trampling them into the dirt. There are epic battle markers all over the world and even the Ptolemies/Seleucids are vyign for power extremely successfully 110 years into the game. The only group doing poorly is poor Baktria, being smashed by AS and Saka Rauka.
How common is this? I'm thoroughly enjoying this campaign since there isn't incessant spamming or dead-to-the-world factions.
Let's hear your best scenarios.
