Has anyone ever heard of someone getting the multiplayer campaign hotseat script working with Europa Barbarorum? From what I've gathered from reading and searching through the forums for months now it appears there were always isssues getting it to run due to the 4 turns per year that was set up.

I'm twelve game years into a campaign on RTR with two other friends. We just had another buddy drop for the time being due to work schedule. We are trying to decide whether to continue on, pause and wait for him for perhaps months, or look into switching to EB. It would be nice to stick with something for awhile, and it seems like EB is where it's at.

Well, I guess nobody has any thoughts on the subject. :-)

No worries. I went over to TW Center for a bit and checked out their forums. I didn't find anything there either. I did discover that they are releasing RTR VII's Grand Campaign in about a week, so I think I'll check that out. I also found out it's possible to run RTR VII and EB in the same install. So I'll probably do that too. Maybe EB will give me my SP campaign fix, and I'll use RTR for the MP with my friends.

Hey, I just saw this.

Some guys did try to run an EB hotseat in the Throne Room but there were problems with the script that they couldn't fix and the game died. The EB team tell me that EB2 will be hotseat-functional and I'll be hosting EB2 games in the Throne Room once it's released.

I assume you only have RTW? because if you have M2TW you are more than welcome to stop by the Throne Room where we run M2TW hotseat campaigns all the time. We could start one up for you and your friends and bring in other players to make up the numbers.

Or if RTR works in hotseat mode and you want to start another one in that mod then stop by and we can host that game there and bring in other players etc. Link is in my sig.

Actually, I play both RTW and M2TW. I have a copy of each. I just play M2TW for my SP fix. I am definitely chomping at the bit for EBII. But meanwhile I bide my time with RTR for multiplayer with my friends. It's slow, but fun nonetheless. And with the battle editor we are trying to stage certain key battles between PvP. Any losers will be put on a boat and sunk. Very Lord of the Rings of us...

Glad to hear EBII will have hotseat, I'll have to talk my friend into buying copies of that game. Thanks for the input.

Very Lord of the Rings of us...

Speaking of which, we're just now recruiting for a Third Age Total War hotseat (that's a M2TW mod set in Tolkien-world)...stop by if you are interested!

I've seen the PvP battles attempted before. For a small hotseat game where everyone is in a similar timezone it could work well, especially if you have a dedicated admin who can set up the battles and adjudicate the losses etc.

I have been playing a TWS2 online campaign with my fellow moderator (Zim) and we have found the online battles to be excellent fun.

I have EB but the thing is so complex and huge I was just offput by it. It reeks of the BGR submod for SS - make the game a chore to even learn for me... Though I do like increased historical accuracy and balance, 95% of the unit names are something like Axetropieouzttss Warriors or Komunrahsetslsmteoith. I love my history but I ain't that much into ancient greek or latin. I mean I'd love to learn one or two words now and then but the change was so massive and sudden from "Legonary Cohort" to "apdffff-whatstheirface" that I just sort of abandoned EB on my HDD.

However Reluctant Samurai has epxressed the desire and will to play a good ol' regular RTW hotseat, where we know the Return of the Mummy Eggies are imba, the Romans thrash everything in AR with their blue and green plastic soldiers and that the bararian factions suck in their infrastrucuture :) If you are in as well we can give it a try!

I suppose that someday I'll have to get one of the mods like RTR or EB. I still play only a self-modified vanilla RTW with which I can have a lot of fun with but....it does get boring pretty quick.

I know nothing at all about how to organize a hot-seat game or I'd offer to help. But I'd still be up for a game.....

My suggestion? post a thread in the Throne room called : RTW hotseat recruiting! and see what response you get. I can help you with the setup.
