New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg ordered the first mandatory evacuation in the city's history as Hurricane Irene bore down on the US east coast.

Hurricane warnings were posted from North Carolina to southern New England as Irene approached the coast with Category 2-force winds of 161 kilometers an hour.

They have ruined the climate, which causes hurricanes.
They have cut back necessary investments in shelter and infrastructure.

An individual hurricane is a heat engine created by having a hot ocean. The chances of a hurricane goes up with the temperature of the water.

Just don't what to start the debate of statistical outlyer vs part of a general pattern ie normal weather occurence like a 100 year wind versus global warming being the underlying cause... until quite literally its blown over... it would be bad taste to begin a debate even a maths debate (what stats is maths...) until after we see how much damage happens and if there are any fatalities.
