I'm playing a game as the Hungarians and as I'm moving into western Europe against the French they have the inevitable civil war. Brittany, Champagne, Wessex, Mercia (sp?), and Scotland all go rebel with them now holding Ireland, Northumbria, and some junk up around Friesland, Saxony area that I don't care much about because it holds little value.

So, one turn I click on end turn and after everything is resolved and the camp map comes back up all the rebels are gone and are now French again! No rebels left out of all those. Not one.

I wonder if maybe the French king died of old age and the rebel king ended up being the king of all the Rebel and non rebel French forces? It was the only idea I could come up with.

Occationally, rebel provinces will simply join up with a faction that they have been a part of before. Usually there's a loyalist rebellion in one province, while the rest simply join up.

That makes sense I guess. Re-emergences tend to affect multiple provinces in a similar way when there are multiple rebel held provinces that the re-emerging faction formerly held. It does seem stupid though to have these rebels choose to join a loyalist uprising for the faction that they just rebelled from 3 years ago. But, at least it makes some sense to me how the mechanics of it work in the game.

Thanks for the reply.

They did not rebel against the faction, but against the faction leader whom they seemed to have been dissatisfied with. And when a new leader appeared the rebels felt that it was the one they've been dreaming of.
