I'm entertaining tomorrow and I was planning a movie night. Problem is, we're all a bit of animation fans so we've seen most well known animations like Pixar and Disney.
Do you know any good animations that might be new to at least some of us? I have access to a great library for multimedia so chances are that I'll find almost anything suggested here.

I don't know whether this counts. It's a film I hadn't heard of until a couple of days ago, but then I'm no film buff and am barely aware of even the big blockbusters.
Secret of Kells (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485601/). The art style is stunning. My attention was attracted by a discussion about the film's plot. Apparently, it's very different to the typical American children's film. It incorporates a lot of Irish mythology, it has quite a bit of reasonably accurate history, it covers some serious issues, and the ending is meant to be a real shock. Grown men admitted to crying! It wasn't made in America either; it's nice to hear some different voices. There's a lengthy trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw2_HZTuQBE).
I need to watch this film.

Oh, how could I overlook that one. It's even belgian. I remember seeing a trailer on the news and wanting to watch that one. I even saw the comic book somewhere.

3D animation only or does 2D count as well?
It's all the same. I really appreciate graphically stunning animations like 'How to train your dragon' but stuff like Dumbo and Bambi are still some of my favourites.

In traditional 2D the Iron Giant is a non Disney Classic. The Secret of NIMH is as well. The second Alice in Wonderland is Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland, and perhaps a bit of a cult classic. Also not targeted to children as much as most. Cats Don't Dance is a bit of a comedy animation flick. Heavy Metal is a cult classic, but it's actually very much boring. Personally my space donkey likes it more as a sort of interesting background for when he smokes his alien happy pipe. A great animation movie is The Triplets Of Belleville, it's French and might be hard to come by but it has great humor and such a unique style.
Castle in the Sky and spirited away or other animation by Miyazaki are all good and classics in the anime genre. My favourite is Princess Mononoke. But I suspect you might have seen those already. I can also recommend Grave of the Fireflies which is set in Japan during WWII. Talking about war, Waltz with Bashir is of course also a must see.
Coraline is 3D film a bit in the style of a Nightmare before Christmas. Animation wise it's a beauty and the soundtrack is a bit wierd perhaps, but great. Fantastic atmosphere. Mary and Max is also great when it comes to atmosphere, style and being witty. Though it does becomes a bit boring when getting more to the end as it goes a bit slow and because it lacks a bit of excitement due to the content and kind of movie it is. When it comes to the more pixar styled 3D flicks I guess you'll already have seen most of the ones I can recommend. As they tend to be very popular. Chicken Run, Despicable me,...
Osmosis Jones is one of the last animation films I saw. It's actually a bit campish especially the small real life acted parts. It's not to the standards of Disney and a lot of the other well known animations, but for some reason I was quite entertained. I guess I kinda like camp sometimes.
Also IMDB always is a good gold mine to dig for good things to watch.
Final Fantasy: Advent Children?
I wanted to add that Barefoot Gen is also a nice film.
But if you can get your hands on The Triplets Of Belleville, pick it. I don't think it's that well known and hence probably new for everyone. It's also something completely different.

When watching the trailer I also noticed a related trailer of another animated movie called the Illusionist. I haven't seen it but it looks great as well.

Mind you, I find that with 'The Jungle Book' you can't go far wrong. Everybody loves that movie.

Beat me to it. That really is a good movie.
And the main reason I saw it because it was based on folklore.

I like Miyazaki's work. I've seen Sptited away and Howl's moving castle.
haven't seen Fantastic planet yet. It seems like a mix between whoever draws for Monty Python and Geronimus Bosch.

those who paid enough attention did at least. It's quite easy to lose track if there is little to no dialogue.
