The demo for Sengoku, Paradox Interactive's game about (wait for it) the Warring States Period in Japan is now available (http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?558905-Sengoku-Demo-Released!).
Game comes out on Tuesday, and right now the only obvious flaw is that it starts in 1477 with the Onin War, so none of the famous people from the end of the period exist. (Although Hojo Soun is alive at the start under a different name, I'm not sure if you can play as him). Still, I'd wager one of the first mods that will come out for the game is a scenario that starts around Okehazama, give or take.

Holy crap, I didn't realize it was going to be out so soon. It's going to be tough deciding between getting this or waiting until CK2...

Yeah, I feel the same way about CK2 and Magna Mundi. But since CK2 doesn't come out for five months, and Sengoku's only $30 dollars, I think it's a pretty safe buy.
So far the game seems a lot simpler then other Paradox titles, but the gameplay is fun in a rather unique way. I especially like how you can't form alliances with other clans, but rather rely on plots. I just unleashed a plot on the Otomo with two of their vassals, but then the demo cut me off. I wish their were more events, but I think the mod community will fix that.

One thing that I didn't like was when I was playing the demo it had the "Rome" sound effects. Kinda bugged me, I mean it has great music and really sucks you in but hearing that "AHHHHH!!" death sound just seems out of place.:laugh4:

It does seem a little sparse, at least playing as the guys who don't start at war. I wish there was something I could do with the non-family member courtiers that are too dumb to be given a master position.
I also got rocked trying to attack the Ouimi (sp?) while they were supposed to be off fighting in the east. They managed to put together 1k more people than me then steamrolled me.

I also got rocked trying to attack the Ouimi (sp?) while they were supposed to be off fighting in the east. They managed to put together 1k more people than me then steamrolled me. Use plots, upgrade buildings/castles, buy ronin/ninja, raise levys and don't bite off more then you can chew.
I went and picked off the two puny islands next to the Shoni and geared for war against the Ouchi. Went better then I expected as he already had most of his levy on the field and one of his vassals back-stabbed him.:grin2:
Still, I received no land out of the deal and had low honor and almost no money. Had I not had the "Just" trait, pretty sure they all would have rebelled right away.:shame:

My heir keeps getting the arbitrary trait which is awful.
I just got senkoku to day and it looks prety good all though it is realy diffullcult to get lost in the campaign map
