hi all,
i recently converted to christianity in my shimazu campaign, and i was wondering why i didn't notice any unrest in my provinces. before it happened, i let every province have at least 4 garrisoning units, but i would expect a little more problems for my all-budhist provinces. but even they were 2 happines. why is that, why isn't anyone angry? i was hoping for a little bit more challenge than this. of course the provinces that already were christian and had low public order skyrocketed in happines. that got my big armies free to get over to honshu.
but is there something that i do extremely good? or is it the fact that i play my first campaign (this one) on easy? or is it a bug or something?

Easy difficulty is definitely one of the reasons but getting garrisons into your cities (which will be harder with less money on higher difficulties) and not having too many regions before converting can ease the pain quite effectively.

ok, but does it only take 4 ashigaru tu maintain order in a populace angred by christianity and an unhourable daimyo? i think that is pretty weird. but yeah, with only 8 provinces, it could also be a low number of provinces (hmm, got to be quick now in expanding, cause its 1556 already, and it's a short campaign). thanks!
PS: oh great, i just saw the black ship in a region i only had 3 trade ships. but now it's coursing towards my 1 bow kobaya, while others weaken it by attacking with 9 ships at a time and lose. hope i can take him :p

It'll blow you to pieces :P even on easy difficulty, unless you are lucky and ALL it's cannons somehow disabled... even then the crew will fire muskets and you'll probably lose... that ship is not to be joked with :tongue:
As for conversion, I'd blame it on the difficulty setting. On easy a garrison of 4 units can pretty much repress any kind of unrest. Oh, and garrison duty doesn't factor in units quality. Yari Ashigaru are as aeffective as Katana Heroes. The only exception are units with the trait "policing bonus" or something like that.

yeah, i now qualitty doesn't matter. but i also figured why i almost didn't notice it in the beginning: it is highest unrest on 50:50, and at first, budhism was way more. but as christianity increased, public order dropped. now, in places over 50% christian, public order starts to rise again.
and the black ship now definitly got out of my view. i think i could have had a chance with some european trade ships, but i couldn't recruit those untill it was too late. but i did finaly get rid of the shoni-ouchi coalition. and the province next to the ouchi capital is christian rebels, so it gives me a little bit less problems when i capture it.
another question: does incite revolt count as an act of war, because i thought it says it does, but i saw some people cay they can conquer these provinces from the rebels without breaking treaties. if so, i am going to use it on the 2 provinces east of aki that my ally (with marriage) the chosokabe, so i can have a clear path to central honshu. btw, i always thought the oda were the ones that usually got killed in thurn 2 or something like that, not to conquer almost all honshu, from hojo territory almost to aki. cause seriously, they look like a way better candidate for realm divide, with their over 20 provinces. i am still thinking of a strategy to get past them (probably involving some missionary action :P).

It's true that inciting revolts doesn't count as an act of war, it gives a diplomatic penalty though. Still it's a good tool to nick provinces without actually starting a war ;)
Yeah, the Oda have their game every once in a while, most of the time they get wiped out as AI though, so you're lucky there ;)

don't now if lucky is the right word, but it isn't something that scrwes up my whole campaign plan.
how much is the diplomatic panelty to the clan used to, and any other clan? i think after that i'll hevae to give the chosokabe 20000 koku to make up with them (probably 5000 per turn).

It's not that bad, I think it's -40 or something like it, I never worried about it when I needed their territory ^^
It's not permanent either, leave them alone after you've taken their provinces and it declines rather quickly.

well, the first incitement was succesfull, but sadly they brought the big guns in (not in a way in what they would have teppo or are christian), and crushed it. i also found out the diplomatic penalty only happens if you are unsuccesfull. at first i thought: yay, there is no diplomatic tackle! but then i tried a second time, and i was unsuccesful and they got the penalty.
arigato gozaimasu for all your help with this. with your tips i finaly got satori, and i think i am going to be able to win wars by having my missionary sit down and drink sencha with the few repressed christians in my enemies provinces. of course, i won't sit there without pulling my katana out of the saya, but those pesky rebels suck, and have almost always only a few ashigaru. of course, if a province of my (openly) enemy is unguarded, i'll just conquer it, that will probably be easier.
PS: are you in for a battle sometime? or possibly a mp campaign (i suck at battles :P(now i think of it, campaign would be more fun in my opinion))? my steam account is called thomas.b.b.

PS: sorry for my use of many japanese words in the middle of a sentence, i just read a book in wich some people speak jananese, with in the back a translation. i really wanted to use it once, and it's not like i can use it in real life. so i just wanted to use it here:tongue2:. thanks again.
