Hi everyone!
I've downloaded EB to my new Windows 7.0 on Vanilla RTW 1.5 gold edition. My problem is: I've installed EB in c: Program files/The Creative Assembly/Rome - Total War. as always i do.
but every time i click on EB, RTW starts!
previously i had same problem but when i re-install the game the problem resolves. but this time it is different. I need professional and permenant solution...

Copy your RTW folder to anywhere outside program files, and try installing EB to that folder instead. I think that's what I did, and it worked for me.

Hopefully this link will provide further help:

Best of luck to you.

What it the target in your EB shortcut?

My last pc finally bit the dust and I got a new one..of course it has windows7.

I am having the exact same problem, but I installed everything outside of program files. I did it the exact same way I did on Vista.

I tried windowed mode. All that did was make rtw smaller (unlike on Vista where it allowed me to alt/tab eb to quickly minimize and have less ctd overall).

I tried some of the solutions here:
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?123030-Windows-7
but with no luck.

I know the team does not support windows 7, but...some people have had no issues at all. Wish I was one.

It is worth noting that I did not download the trivial script as I found myself never using it in the past. Will this make a difference?

Create a new shortcut to Rome-TW.exe and edit the target line by adding: -mod:eb -show_err -ne -nm

The thing with the windowed mode: The game now uses the resolution set in \EB\preferences\preferences.txt; thus if this is smaller than your desktop one the window itself will be smaller than your desktop.

I got everything to work.

Perhaps the trivial script helped?

Before, the menu options were "play" and "run (troubleshoot)". Now I have "Play single player" and "Play multiplayer".

IF it matters I am using RTW/BI Gold Edition. And now I have the BI installer which creates it's own shortcut which allowed windowed mode works like it used to.

Also, I did NOT run anything as window xp compatible and I am not running anything as an admin, though I did run the 1.1 file as an admin when installing.

Not sure if any of this makes a difference, i just know it did not work 4 times and the 5th time it did work with doing very little different.

You installed Trivial Script (which gives you the "Play single player" and "Play multiplayer" shortcuts) the last time, this is the difference to your previous installations.

Have fun with EB!
