The Thirty Years War: Europe's Tragedy is a pretty good read, although it does jump about a bit in one of the more confusing and politiacally complicated wars ever, but still interesting if you're into the 17th century.

Pretty much any book at Wal Mart with a shirtless Indian holding a prairie settler woman will have lots of good, accurate history in it.
