After a month of trying out different mods in the hope of finding the most challenging campaign possible, and failing, I have finally cracked the code. What I did was, run an AI campaign (any faction, I chose the Seleukids) uptil 250 bc, this is what Ive seen so far,

Now, how do you run these?

Simple, you just add -ai to the shortcut, and run the faction you want to play( I choose hard/hard difficulty), when you want to take control of your faction yourself, wait until its your turn, open the console and write "halt_ai". To run it again, write "run_ai". You dont need to worry about the script, it runs itself. Oh and, dont forget to remove the -ai in the shortcut when you are playing yourself.

My goal now is to, (atleast) conquer Egypt, Make a defensive line against the Parthians, Exterminate the Hai, and stablize the rebel cities in Anatolia. After that, run the AI again :clown:

So what do you guys think? IMO this is the most challenging scenario one can put himself in.

Now can anyone tell me if I can switch factions mid campaign?

It's possible to switch factions in mid campaign, but it isn't suited for EB due to the way the government system works. The "government resource", which determines where you can use type I and II governments, is placed at the start of the game. If you switch a faction, these don't change, so you have to deal with the government restrictions of your previous faction. (The A.I. gets its government buildings placed by the script, so it isn't affected by this condition.)

Just tell me how to do it, Im sure I can get a work around becasue at present you cant run a normal campaign after youve run the AI, maybe I can fool the game by switching factions.

I think the code was inside Hax' civil war guide (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?127712-Hax-s-Great-Guide-to-Civil-War).

Any suggestions on how to regain control? The generic script wont work.

---

I have an alternate idea, lets say I want to play as the AS, I start the campaign, switch factions to the Casse(they dont do anything) and THEN enable AI control via SCRIPT . Can that be done? Or, if there is a script that disables your faction and keeps pressing end turn until a specified year? Can I do that? If so, how? Please halp :book:

[...] Exterminate the Hai [...]
What? What! :laugh4: Enjoy your campaign. I like this idea of AI >> hand over to yourself later on.

A while back (WHILE) I made a PBEM mod for EB. It was reasonably successful until my computer broke.

The way I did it was to make each territory open to any government, and just had the other players download a map of which territories could have certain governments. You could print yourself a map, I'm pretty sure I used the recruitment viewer as it allowed me to highlight based on faction/govt.

The AI doesn't need the placement markers, just you. So, if you can simply keep a little map hanging around somewhere, I am sure this could work.

Like I said, worked great for the PBEM campaign.

It could, my problem is that you cant control the faction for which the AI campaign has already been run, so what I have done is start as the faction I want, switch to Casse(I hate them, they dont do anything), and keep pressing end turn while reading a book. Also I do a script that adds money to my factions enemies.
