View Full Version : The Greatest General... could it be you?
Hello everyone! I thought I would post a thread asking people not "Who was the greatest general of Antiquity" let's be honest there have been lots of them and they usually end up with people dividing themelves into a Hannibal, Caesar, Scipio, Pyrrhus or Alexander camp with one or two people shouting Viriathus. No, instead I want to ask people "If you could fight one of the great generals from antiquity, who would it be?". Feel free to add as much detail as you wish. Maybe you would like to fight Scipio Africanus as Zama and see if you could improve on Hannibal's plan? Perhaps you would choose a fictional battle and ambush Caesar as he crossed the Rhine. You could even fight a general with troops he wouldn't normally have encountered, perhaps you could undo Tigranes the Great with some naked Britons (no jokes about what you are undoing, please). The only condition is this, your army must be composed of contemporary troops to the army and general you are facing, no fighting Alexander with a post-Marian army and certainly NO strafing Caesar's legions with a Spitfire.
I don't really have any particular one and EB covers all my desires in the matter ^^
Phillip II, with an army of Tigran.

Brennus, you forgot to add:
"Leave your interesting credit response in the comment section bel-l-l-ow, or on Facebok, Twitter, Google plus!!!"
Imagine, you are Barae, great general of the British Isles, sitting in Camulosodae, minding your own business, perhapse drinking bier, thinking of road building, learning heroic poems. But then suddenly big Baktrian army appears at your gates, they have brought some cretures right from hell - big, gray hairless errr boars? with huge tusks and long additional arm on its face. But that is not it. The horsemen are immortal iron clad beasts unvolnurable to your wearpon, shining in the sun and blinding you. And their infantry reminds you moving forest...
After the battle Barae understood, that the "big boars" are OK with bier, so he decided to find the land where they came from. But this is another story.

Are you hinting at your intention to create a one of a kind AAR?
I don't get the bit about leaving your response on Facebook, Twitter or Google, please explain.

It was a joke. A reference to a very popular show =3 on youtube.
The idea of making such AAR is very interesting, but unfortunately I don't have enough time for it and I can't make myself to write very big amount of text. But I would be happy if someone would write such AAR and tell us why Baktrians appeared in Britain.
