Hi .Org members, here are the details of this months competition on the official forums if you wish to enter -note you will need to have a forum account on the official forums to be able to see the entry thread.

Thanks,
Shire

This months competition is to come up with a retainer for a game character like an agent or a family member/general. What you need to supply in order for your retainer to be valid entry is a name, a bit of text to accompany the retainer, it's effects and the likely conditions for it's appearance in the game.

so for example :-

Farrier (retainer),"Camels maybe the ships of the desert but Horses handle the workload" (text), 10% increased range to movement on the campaign map (effect), General rarely if ever dismounts during battle (likely conditions of appearance)

Up to three retainers can be submitted per entry, only one entry per person.

This competition will be judged by special guest judge MikeB, Head Writer and creator of many hundreds of retainers over the years for the Total War series of games.

Entries can be submitted now (via this thread (http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/27037-Design-a-Retainer-competition-%28November%29)). The competition closes midnight GMT on Monday November 21st 2011 with the winners being announced before the end of the month.

Prizes :-

First prize is a choice of either a hard copy of Medieval 2: Total War Gold or one item of Total War DLC for the TW title of your choice plus your very own personal Total War themed avatar (supplied by yourself) and most intriguingly of all a piece of tat from The Creative Assembly offices.

Runner up will receive a personal avatar and an item of TW DLC.

Rules :-

1. A retainer is only valid if it contains a name, text, effects and conditions for it's appearance in the game.
2. Up to three retainers can be submitted per entry but only one entry per person.
3. All entries are at the moderating teams discretion and any entry can be refused admission to the competition without any reason being given.
4. The winner will be awarded permanent use of a Total War themed avatar of their own design to be used on their forum profile, a choice of one of the two main prizes listed in the prizes section above and a piece of tat from the offices of the Creative Assembly (this could be anything from a full set of authentic Samurai armour used by the art modelling team to MikeB's coveted signed copy of Gary Gygax's Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Monster manual)
5. This competition will be judged by a member of The Creative Assembly namely MikeB and their decision is final, correspondence regarding the result will not be entered into.

Disclaimer: This competition is being managed solely by the forum moderating team and is not officially connected with The Creative Assembly or SEGA, any queries should be addressed directly to shireknight via the forums personal messaging service.

The winners of this competition have now been announced along with an excellent summery of what the retainer system actually is by CA's head writer MikeB.
